There is a problem with this though.  Capcom is going to require you to sign up for their online service in order to play CvsSNK2 online.

So now we have PlayOnline, the Capcom service, and our own regular internet service for the normal PS2 online games.  This is getting a little out of control.

Exact! If every company makes a inet service for the ps2 games we will have to sign up and pay in 8 or 10 services... out of control, yes.

Which is the exact reason online gaming won\'t take off this generation.  How many people want to honestly different fees for different games?  Not many.

Even I, a self-acclaimed \'Capcom whore\' probably won\'t pay for this if it comes to the US.

On an unrelated note; the box art rocks.
:)

I bet some company could make a lot of money if they combine all the services so that we only have to pay one company.  And if enough people sighn up with this "wonder Company" we could get group discounts or something.  And then they couls get some extra money from advertisers.  And before we play online we have to put up with a 20 sec. advertisment or something.

What I don\'t understand is that most computer games have online play for free.  How come we have to pay for console games online?

Looking good.

I like the box art too.

As for online play it probably be a whole lot different outside of Japan. For starters us lot in the UK never get free calls. So I don\'t think they will try to market a product where you have to sign up to several services and pay phone calls, although knowing Sony they won\'t give a damn.

I say wait and see. Im not writing the modem off just yet. Sony will hopefully come through in the end and sort something out.

Just to inform you, the US doesn\'t get free calls either.  We pay a monthly fee for local calls, and then a contracted minute rate for long distance (or a flat rate for a set amount of minutes and then an extra charge for each minute over).  (Though some phone companies throw in some "free" minutes every now and then.)

I think there are other factors to consider too - I wouldn\'t mind paying for different servers for different games if they\'re cheap, and they can ensure dedicated servers with little or no lag. I don\'t envision myself playing too many online games - and I\'d rather pay for a few select games but have a much better service, than pay a flat rate but have the odd bit of lag in games.

Of course, that\'s just me, and if you plan on playing a lot of games online I guess the all-in-one solution would be the most feasible.

Clip: Indeed the box art looks fantastic. :)

For PS2, there will be special edition retailing for 9800yen as compared to the standard edition which cost 6800yen. The special edition will include P2gate, a USB ***em which will allow PS2 fighters to challenge Dreamcast fighters online. This will be the first online fighting game to go cross platforms[/b].

Now we can put PS2 and DC fans to the ultimate battle!

That is provided it leaves Japan. No other Capcom game has came out of Japan with online play, sadly.

How come the word *** (m o d) is censored out?  The pic I had won\'t show up because the link has "m o d e m" in it and the censor thing changes it to ***em!

It wasn\'t like this when I first posted it!

I feel the exact same way.

I am a GIGANTIC Capcom fan, and I will not pay this fee.

I have bought just about every Capcom fighter for just about every platform (\'cept for MSH vs. SF for Saturn...If I just had the money...ARRRGH :rpissed: ) including the 100 bucks I shelled out for X-Men vs. SF on Saturn, which I STILL play.  Hell, I heard MSH was SLIGHTLY better on the Saturn, and I busted my ass trying to find that game...it\'s alot tougher than you think, trust me.

BUT, I ain\'t paying an extra fee to play this online.  You can bet yer ass I\'ll buy the game, but not the package, if they offer it.
Let those who stand for tyranny and injustice fear the hell the United States will unleash upon them.

That\'s one of the good things about the Xbox, they will only have one service. Microsoft has recognized that 15 different companies charging you to play your games online is foolish, and they are doing something about it. Hopefully Sony will follow suit.
