Project Zero is Headed to PlayStation 2 !

Tecmo revealed what is to be their upcoming survival horror type game, Tentatively titled Project Zero. You take the role of a 17 year old girl named Miku Hinasaki who is in search of her lost brother. Apparently, much of the game takes place in a mansion, which many have entered, but few have returned. While this all is starting to sound like a Resident Evil clone, Tecmo is putting a twist on it all by having players use different kinds of weapons, such as a camera to defeat off your foes...

...Project 0 takes the average horror title, combines some Silent Hill, a grain of Resident Evil and mixes it all together to create a frightening enviroment. As previously revealed, instead of using guns, knifes, axes, hammers (you get the point, besides you play as a 17 year old girl), you use items like a camera. Apparently taking pictures can help see things that the human eye can not, such as the super natural...

Project 0 is still on par for a release this fall in Japan, still no word on a stateside release though.

Silent Hill and Resient Evil ARE the average horror title

might be a cool game.  But just because they change the way you kill your foes, doesnt mean its going to be much different from your \'average\' horror game

I think that looks really cool,and sounds intresting,at least someone is trying something abit different in a horror game.
What other games has Tecmo made?are they the company that has made DoA3?i carnt remember!:confused:

Nice CGs...sounds interesting.

Tecmo created the whoe DoA-series and is currently programming a Ninja Gaiden-game for PS 2 (and DoA 3 for XBox).

The girl looks more like 14 or 15 rather than 17...but that maybe just the anime-style.

That grainy look reminds me  of Silent Hill 2. I like
average horror games , so this will be something for me

Bob is right. Just because you make no ways to kill your enemies - that does not mean the game itself is original. Survival horror games are all about atmosphere (Silent Hill). But , now\'a\'days anything falls in that genre it seems (See: Carrier).

Which reminds me, what ever happened to the port of Carrier?

Come on guys you don\'t want to be hyped about every new upcoming game. Seriosuly what does this game offer that any other game doesn\'t. Just cause you kill monsters in a different fashion won\'t warrente my purchase. Its probably still the same as a gun anyway, aim, fire.

You can tell by the early shots to what this game will be like. 17yrs old 14yrs old looking anime girl, searching for brother, plays like resident evil, snippets of anime style video clips everywhere. Probably slightly over the top. Silent Hill 2 is so far looking almost 500 times off the scale better than this game.

Ok i\'ve been a bit harsh I admit. Im just saying so far this game sparks not a trace of excitment or wonder.

Project Zero is still far away from completion and Silent Hill 2 will be done soon. It\'s not fair to compare both games right now. We will have to wait and see, if Tecmo will do a good job or not.

Hey RichGUK calm down mate,i just think it is good that they are trying something a bit different in the game.
But i can see what you are saying as well,i guess we will just have to wait and see.

Looks nice.  I\'m always willing to through down the dough for a new survival horror game.

And who cares if it\'s not original?  As long as it\'s fun, then there\'s no reason to really complain.  It\'s getting harder and harder for developers to breathe fresh air into most genres these days, but that doesn\'t mean they can\'t still make great games.  You shouldn\'t blow a game off just because it\'s not innovative in every aspect...

this game looks fun..... oh and richguk, what makes you think that the story line is gonna be the exact same as Silent Hill or Resident Evil.... I mean if there isn\'t any fun games..... why not play it?

6 screens and this game is crap?

I\'ve already explained that i\'ve been a bit harsh. Im not really writing the game off as such but it seems that every new game comes along and you lot, me included are like "whoa this could be cool etc".

How many times have we been disapointed with games not living up to the hype? Heres a few to refresh your memory, ZOE, The Bouncer, Dark Cloud, Extermination etc. All OK games but they certainly didn\'t live upto the hype, also to some extend GT3, which can be described as GT2 with better graphics, hardly ground-breaking  considering great games are made up with more than just visual appeal.

So im just saying that this game so far hasn\'t sparked the same interest that it might have done a few months ago when I didn\'t feel so kicked in the teeth by these shoddy and disapointing releases. Thus far the PS2 has only truthfully really had some polished and spot on titles, Tekken Tag for one, SSX prehaps, and the likes of GT3 (putting originality and GT2ness aside for a second), Red Faction & Tokyo Xtreme Racer are also very good titles.

Doesn\'t mean im not going to try the game, or even get more excited later on, but what can I say, 6 screen shots of a game. Im not overly anticipating a great game, as of yet! Time will tell though.

I was hunting for some more info on the game, and I ran across this statement @ http://www.PlanetPS2.com:

She will need to use a camera to find her missing brother in a mysterious Japanese mansion. It sounds to me like Pokemon Snap gone bad.



I hope there is more to the game than that.  At present this game is a big mystery so far.  It\'s anybody\'s guess as to how this will develop in the next few months.

ya I can see what you mean but then again those games you mentioned ZOE, Dark Cloud and maybe Extermination are really fun..... I guess it just depends on the person.
