I have this equpiment mainly for DVD\'s, games consoles do not show off expensive HT equipment well, it looks good but not half as good a DVD image or CD sound.
You probably wouldn\'t notice much quality increase over an anverage tv with a standard 2 ch audio setup. Size of tv matters with games and I think games are more suited to 4:3, my tv does the \'squeeze\' but I still use 4:3, most arcade games have 4:3 screens anyway.
I just don\'t think it wise to spend shed loaadsa money on HT equipment JUST for gaming, game image and sound is far inferior to other sources (although the PS2 outputs 48kHz which is higher than CD, the sound is still not up to much, game sound never is)
Infact sometimes a good audio setup can detract from the enjoyment slightly, remember my post on the sound in GT3 distorting?
Better speakers reveal more flaws in the source.
The best thing you can do to improve your gaming experience I think is:
First ditch composite input, use svid or component (RGB scart too)
Second get a larger screen, it doesn\'t have to be the latest and most expensive flat screen contrary what people will tell you
Plug the PS2 into an external amp with some speakers, here again console sound is not exactly reaching audiophile proportions it\'s usually very compressed sounding, so it doesn\'t need to be mega bucks.
The alternative, get into Home Theater (like me) then you will have a kickass HT setup MORE than worthy of any games machine
