the GC is an easy to develope for system that has the majority of its effects available at a flick of a switch

it shouldn\'t be too difficult for the top dev\'s to get the majority out of GC right off the bat.

Being that the actual models for Rogue Squandron we\'re taken right from the actual models in the movie, development time was shaved considerably and focus was left to polish up the game and tap GC for  as much as possible.

If GC can improve considerably from this over its lifetime I\'ll  be amazed,

Yeah, that may explain why RL is outperforming even Nintendo (about the models being taken from the movie). But still, no dev can get everything out of a console in the beginning; there\'s still a lot of juice left in the GC yet. I don\'t see how anything can get better than this though. ;)

I read in an interview awhile ago(can\'t remember who and where but that\'s irrelevant) and a Nintendo rep said when they were making the hardware the most important things to include was ease of devlopment and flexibility(improving graphics and power over time). Yeah I thought it was odd too but I positive that\'s why the guy said(flexibility is not a word in my limited vocabulary).

But I seriously doubt Rogue Leader will be the best looking game for NGC ever. The PSX was supposedly easy to develop for and it took awhile to get the full power out of it, same with SNES(Mario RPG), Genesis(Sonic 3d), and DC(Shenmue). I use the games in brackets as example of seeing the best looking game for the system \'till near the end of the console\'s lifetime. But Shenmue shouldn\'t count since Sega spent 75 million on the game...

The point I\'m trying to make is that NGC will have better looking games latter one. Just wait until SpaceWorld and the next Zelda will make mince-meat out of Rogue Leader...guaranteed. :)

Jumpman, you forget ShenmueII is coming out, and I hear it is awe-inspiring. And form what I have seen in terms of movies, it is truly great.

I must say though, this game impresses me. And not many games impress me graphically.

Sonic3D (Genny)
Donkey Kong Country (SNES)
Street Fighter 2\' (SMS)
Panzer Dragoon Saga (Saturn)
Shenmue (DC)
Jet Set Radio (DC)
and now...
Rogue Leader 2 (GC)

and it can only get better with more dev. time :) !

I\'ve seen some movies of this game too, and it looks a little better. Ryo looks EXACTLY the same but I thought the backrounds looks better. Hopefully, there won\'t be any more ridiculous pop-up. Walking in the street and watching people come out of nowhere always bothered me...

Ha! I\'ve been impressed by less games than you!

Donkey Kong Country
Mario RPG
Mario 64(the whole 3D thing was new to me...)
Shenmue
Zelda SpaceWorld demo
Rogue Leader

I guess I\'m just more hardcore than you! ;)

I think we are thinking on different levels here.

I am impressed when a suppoedly weak system does things that before that game came out, most people would think it couldn\'t be done.

Add in the fact that you have never played, nor seen Street Fighter 2\' for SMS, nor played or seen Panzer Saga live, etc, would of course exclude you from those games. Also, Sonic3D Blast for Genny is purely amazing for the systemm heck, it is amazing for SNES.

it\'s like graphics that blow me away do sdo because of the techniques done to produce them on that hardware.

Sure Jumpman ! We\'ll see better and better graphics in the next generations GC games...the fact that GC is the easiest to develop for does mean we\'ll see a far bigger percentage of its power at launch compared to PS2 but it doesn\'t mean GC can\'t do much better ! I\'m sure the Next Zelda will make us crying out "MIRACLE" ! I can\'t wait Jumpman :)

Wow, awesome textures, lighting and bump-mapping. I thought XBox would be more powerful than the Gamecube, but after seeing these screens I\'m not sure. If the gameplay is as nice as the screens, than RL 2 will be a killer-app. for Nintendo\'s console.

This is the best looking game I\'ve ever seen. Period. The fact that Nintendo can produce such high quality graphics is a real shame on the XBox. Nothing XBox has shown is even in the graphical ballpark of Rogue Leader. The mighty one has not only been stood up, but completely thrashed by a machine that supposedly is only barely more powerful than PS2.

I am utterly stunned.

Yup, Weltal sums it up pretty good.
Damn , this stuff blows away everything on my
PS2. Just look at the sheer amount of polys with
almost no jaggies....
