When Is The Best Time To Get A PS2

I never thought I would do this, but I am MOST DEFINITELY getting a PS2 now. Main reason? ICO!!!!! That game is pure magic- it\'s a thing of beauty, a work of art. The whole game, you know, the "communicating" with the princess (non-verbally), the clothes blowing in the wind, the stunning/beautiful/dream-like/Xbox and GC-spanking graphics, the "just you and the colossal castle you get to explore all by yourself", it\'s a work of art.

Anyways, the reason I\'m posting is because I want to buy a PS2. I\'ve heard that there are already 2 (?) models out- is this true. Something about a model that has had some work done to it so that it\'s DVD drive is no longer too loud, etc. If so, where can I get this new and improved PS2 model. I heard somewhere about this model being packed in with GT3? Can I get them separately (as I hate racing games)?

One last thing, when is Ico going to be released?

what is ICO\'s storyline?  i know the game looks amazing, but if im going to get it, i would want to know somthing about it!!!

i mean if you just hold onto a princesses hand and explore a castle, im not getting it!!!!!!!

and the best time to buy a ps2 is whenever you want. if you are really bored of your old system, get a ps2, get gran turismo to tide you over till ico launches. you wont regret your purchase now,,,,

I dunno if there is a price difference but you can distictly tell the PS2 boxs apart. The GT3 one is red and has a gt3 in game background on it.

Wait until a price drop...Like you, I haven\'t gotten a PS2 yet.  There are only a handful of games that interest me, and none of them are out yet.  So I\'m going to keep buying what little games are left for DC and get a Xbox ASAP.  

I suspect that PS2 will be at 199$ next summer.  By that time, WipEout Fusion, ICO, Virtua Fighter 4, Final Fantasy X, along with Jak and Dexter will be out.  

ICO has a release date of Sept. according to IGN.   Looks like you have a decision to make pretty quickly...

I agree ICO\'s graphics rule.. but, YOU NEED A PS2 NOW! Trust me you do......

The perfect tiem would be when the HDD and Ethernet card come out.  Also another time just as perfect is when Final Fantasy comes out.

I would say..

November would be a good time to buy a PS2.
By then MGS2, SH2, J&D, Getaway will be out

And they might have cut the price to 199USD..

If PS2 drops down to $199, I\'ll get it RIGHT away.

if and when. given your situation, i would buy it with ico when it comes out.

i have the demo of ico, but the storyline sucks arse, so i doubt im getting it.

the storyline sucks because they didn\'t include a cut scene in the beginning...... I read a preview and in the beginning it explains the boy with the horns and why he was put into the big jar and everything....... Just the demo didn\'t include that scene..... don\'t know why though:(

Get it now - along with GT3. The first truly good game on PS2.

yes, I have only seen two really good games wich I still play and will play for a long time, on Ps2. One is Timesplitters. Second is GT3.

Soon there\'ll be GTA3, Wipeout Fusion and MGS2.

Enough must-buy titles for the ending of this year and beginning of the next. After those, I will prolly have to be a looong time without buying a new game

You should get it at night, thats the best time to get one...

my advice is to get one really early in the morning, and when u got a few days off,, then u can play it for longer
