What was the first game you can remember waiting for it to be released?

The older the game the better.

The oldest game I couldn\'t wait to get my hands on was Super Mario Bros.  I was playing the Atari before the NES and I couldn\'t wait to play my first actuall Action/Adventure videogame.  Now in the future it\'s between MGS2 and WWF Smackdown! 3: Just Bring It.

I remember that to. Me & my brother were so excited, we freaked out because mario had a face.  Now it seems kind of silly.  Still I don\'t think people have ever anticipated video games as long as they do today. I mean, how long have we been waiting for (The Getaway, Wipeout Fusion, FFX?)

My most anticipated game of my youth was probably either Super Mario Bros. 3 or The Adventure of Link (Zelda 2) for NES.  Super Mario 1 was the bomb and all, and I couldn\'t believe that I was able to play that game in my own house, but I knew about the other two games months in advance, and I remember constantly calling up the department & toy stores for the release date.  Whether they kept on pushing them back, or whether I was just being an obsessive pre-teen or teenager (I think I was like 12 or 13 when these came out), I can\'t quite remember...but these games paid off.  I honestly don\'t think I can remember an excitement about an upcoming video game that equals these from my past...oh well, that\'s the bad thing about getting older I guess...

i think the games i anticipated the most were:

- super mario bros. 1, 2, 3
- castlevania 2, 3, 4
- zelda 2, 3

..and of these 3,  zelda had the highest anticipation level for me...
and as much as games like ffvii,  mgs,  symphony of the night, and ecco had me loosing sleep before they finally came out...its just not the same like the good old days when i was younger and there was no internet to look at pics or movies...
damn...looking back now,  there were many games that i anticipated...the list is too big....

Mario 3 was probably my most anticipated videogame.  I used to watch that one movie. The wiz..or wizard..the one with fred savage and that kid who wins some sort of Nintendo compitition..and the last game they played was Mario 3.   Back then my anticipation was probably more than it is today, considering I had no internet or reviews to read.

like i said..back in the days we didnt have the luxury of the internet or (in my case) i wasnt old enough to drive so i had to beg my folks to take me to toys r us and hope that they had the game i wanted...and if it was sold out,  i was screwed till the next time...its not like if they were gonna drive me all over town looking for it...now a days,  we know the exact date a game ships and we pre purchase it and junk like that,  plus we have the net to check out pics and download movies...its just not the same.

I completely understand, and agree. The internet has led to corruption. Heck, I saw so many trailers for Shenmue, that I had seen practically the entire game. That was my fault though, and it won\'t happen again. That\'s why I\'ve only seen like 3 screenshots of Shenmue II.

My most anticipated game(s),.. hrm, must have been Super Mario Bros. 2 and Castlevania II. I wish those old days could still exist, but there is no way to re-create them. :(
