Dvd

ok dokey This question has prob been asked 10000 times before but im new so here goes!

i owb jap ps2 10000 model and i have installed dvd drivers on memcard but when i try to play english pal dvd film i see no picture just  the word ="TV and some jap text" er sorry for the lame question but im new to the ps2.

please help by the way the cd is spinning so i think its playing but like i say just some text on screen but no pic!
