Anyone heard of this? PS2 Shocks (literaly speaking;)
« on: August 17, 2001, 11:23:13 PM »
I\'ve read an article on a norwegian site (http://www.nrk.no/kanal/nrk_petre/kaliber/1221233.html) that a new Dual Shock controller is in the works that gives the player electrick shock when you crash a car or get kicked/hit in tekken. Sound cool for sure, but it also states that the player can actually get paralyzed in the arms for a short time when the electricity kicks in. The effect is made from two electrodes that are patched to your underarms.

I had never even heard of this before and was quite \'stunned\';) by that the article was from a non gamer site (NRK is a norwegian TV/Radio broadcast company) Does any of you have any more info on this \'in-development-gadget\'?

I read an article about 5 years ago that there was a craze in Japan over a new pinball machine. You would take your shoes and sock off and stand on a metal plate infront of the machine and if you failed to get a certain score it would give you an electric shock through the soles of your feet.

What a coincidence I just read an article on this in my local paper last week.I should clarify this a little for you guys though. The electric pads (just like the ones they use for E.K.G\'s) attach under your forearms not your underarms(now who would want to share those :D ).It emits a very mild electric shock that can be turned up just enough to stop you from being able to react for a second.I\'ll try and see if I can find this online later.
I swear this post is not spam!!!!Listen,if this post was spam, would I do this? [spreads mayonaise over bread]

IMO this is sooo stupid. Its just a totally retarded idea. Especially since it "prevents you from reacting for a second". That scares me. I don\'t want my games to electricute me and "stop me from reacting". Thats not normal and possibly dangerous. No matter how mild the shock is its got to permently screw up something along the way. You don\'t go to arcades everyday, but most people play their PS2 or DC or whatever for at least a few hours everyday. I\'d be afraid of the constant shocking screwing up my veins or cooking my arms or something.
Call me a wimp and pussy if you want but I don\'t want some stupid game shooting electricity into my body.

I think it sounds pretty awsome. I\'m sure you would master a racing game, for example, faster because you learn not to screw up or else.

Yeah I did\'nt think it was such a good idea either,I get involved in games enough already. But to clarify it does not "shock" you ,it imobilizes the mucle for a half second or so.Just like those wierd workout devices you see on late night infomercials
