Author Topic: Question about EB extended warranty (ie. busted PS2!!) (Read 1125 times)

OK, it\'s looking like my PS2 is busted. I\'ve gone through about half of my DVD collection and the damn thing gives me "Disc Read Error" on all of them!! Funny thing is everything was working fine a few days ago, though I\'d been hearing discs "click" a few times as they spun up for the past month or so.

Now, if I take it back will they send it off to be repaired or will they just replace it? I\'m just wondering if I\'m going to have to "go without" for a while (not that I\'d complain since school\'s starting and it would probably help my grades

) Just wondering if anyone else has experience with this.

Most likely they\'ll want to repair it. Where do you live?

I haven\'t had to take mine back, but I believe they just replace it on the spot if they have any PS2s in stock.

You may also want to try cleaning the lens inside the PS2 before taking it back. Many people who have experienced similar problems have been able to resolve them by doing so.

I experienced the exact same problem, only with the PS2 CDRom Discs. Someone on the forums told me to use a CD/DVD cleaner. I tried it a few times and all my discs worked. You probably just have dust on the lense that needs to be cleaned off. Try it. It worked on everyone that I gave the advice to.

I can\'t replace my PS2 because I ripped off the warrentee sticker:crying:

But I got a plan.... I\'m gonna sell it on ebay for 250 bucks!:D Then I\'ll just use that money to buy and new one.

Dunno if it\'ll work though.......

where you from man????? im sure if mine broke id make them give me a new one, my friend made them give him a new tombraider 2 about 3 months after he got the game...best things to do, get your mum or girlfriend to take it back...they believe girls more

I took it back to EB and they took a new one out of a box and just replaced mine with that. They made sure to note the new serial number on the extended service receipt though. Quick and painless.

I tried a CD/DVD lens cleaner but the machine wouldn\'t recognize that disc either!!! :eek:

Try the system Diagnosis. When at the main menu, hit triangle and go to Console and turn it on. Then try the cd. Worked for me.

i work for EB i can help you, if you bought the warranty and its within the 1 or 2 years [whichever one you bought], just bring it back to ANY EB and they\'ll give you a NEW one on the spot. NO REPAIRS NEEDED, just an exchange. BRING EVERYTHING WITH YOU [BOX, MANUAL, SYSTEM, CONTROLLERS, and WARRANTY SLIP]
