For those of you in the land of Hello Kitty and "which door is the tiger hiding behind?!" gameshows, the wait is over. Microsoft has announced today that it will finally debut the launch date, and hopefully, the launch price of the Xbox console system on August 27th in Tokyo. The launch date announcement has become one of the largest issues tied with the system\'s success, as the Japanese launch has become an unofficial symbol for Xbox\'s shipping problems, if any, with the system this fall. Rumors have placed the Japanese launch of the system as late as next March, in order for Microsoft to fill the US order without encountering speed bumps like Sony\'s massive launch supply problems last year. With Spaceworld ending the day before the announcement, the software-turned-console creator will no doubt try to use some of the fire from Nintendo\'s big show to fuel its own conference. Microsoft has continually affirmed that the US launch is still November 8th, and that the Japanese launch would follow soon after. Have the rumors of Microsoft\'s overseas delay been just that -- rumors? We have one week to find out for sure.
Originally posted by Falcon4 the xbox japenese launch will mostlikely be a flop. unless some miracle hapens, the x box will not do well in japan, without a doubt....
Originally posted by ajoh432 Yeah.. They will not care IMO... But it\'s still nice to know when they will be getting it.... Japanese are more excited about NGC, am I right?
Originally posted by Falcon4 sure, they care more about GC, but they live for ps2 over there...
Originally posted by Living-In-Clip Actually, I imagine the GC will dominate the Japanese sales for the most part. Franchises they love, like pokemon will keep it afloat for along, long time. Not to mention the Japanese only originally bought a PS2 because it was a cheap DVD player.
