the end of nintendo.
« on: August 23, 2001, 11:48:36 AM »
...ever since the dissapointments of the n64 (which was once supposed to be the ULTRA64 with 1 million polys,  high rez,  no pop up,  etc..but became a bundle of empty promises)...i have bashed nintendo for its lack of performance and for their pathetic choice to target little kids...i guess i felt that since their last system was so weak,  they had to use \'kiddies\' as their target audience to justify the primitive graphics of their so called 64 bit nex gen system....so much for next generation.

i know that when i first entered these forums,  i was looked upon as a nintendo hater because of my constant attacks at their crappy kiddie games and what not...but in reality,  nintendo has given me the best videogame memories EVER!!!...it all started with nintendo...even back when they developed for atari and coleco (they made donkey kong).....i had a blast with my NES and SNES and ill never forget my roots....

SO...i decided to give nintendo the benefit of the doubt and since most of the nintendo fanboys from these forums prolly hate me by now,  i started looking towards nintendo\'s future with a positive and hopeful outlook...i have respect for miyamoto and i know the gamecube is a powerful system and i know that it can pull off some great looking and sounding games ( rogue leader,  starfox adventure)....

but after the load of crap i saw from the space world presentation,  i feel like a deusche bag for giving nintendo the time of day....i shouldve known that they are a bunch of old fashioned goodie goodies that will never grow up...they love their kiddie games and their gay crap and will continue to create gay looking games and kiddie style graphics for the remainder of their days to come....

ZELDA:
i cannot beLIEve,  how they destroyed their best franchise...
link never looked this gay and pathetic...for those of you that defended it and said that zelda has always been cartoony,  i think you all better take a look at the last years gamecube demo and smash bros melee and check out the rendered link...
NEVER has link looked like a powerpuff girl...although i wasnt too thrilled with last years zelda gamecube demo,  ( i wanted soul caliber 1 style textures) atleast it had decent looking textures,  and great animation between ganon and link...their sword fight was awesome and showed emotion....its unbeLIEvable how they just went a totally different route...if they wanted to go cartoony,  why didnt the ATLEAST make the cartoony people like the artwork from Ocarina,  MAjora\'s Mask and the gameboy color zelda games....atleast the artwork there is cool as f**k..check out their website too.....
but this rinky dinky excuse for link is not acceptable..sorry....
now,  i can look at this game and pretend that its no zelda and i think it looks great...its a cool game to play and im sure id have fun,  BUT since its ZELDA,  i cannot accept it....thats like if a new metal gear came out and was in ANIME style...i wouldnt accept it cause metal gear is supposed to be realistic....so ,  too bad....another great franchise down the drain...

METROID:
the game ive been waiting for years....is now a load of crap too...i think the mock up picture that IGN created looked cooler than what was shown at space world.....its a freakin FPS and its not even being developed by nintendo...why?..cause its prolly to serious of a game for nintendo to make...its not kiddie enough...so...the hell with it too...

i cannot deal with all these disappointments in one day....i wont even bring up soul caliber 2\'s crappyness now...ill save that for another thread...but ive had it with nintendo...i can safely say that i will not get a gamecube and will use my hard earned money for konami, capcom,  square,  sega, blizzard, valve,  and namco...the cream of the crop in game companies....if i missed any,  please remind me.

for those of you who like the new zelda and metroid...i envy you and i wish you the best...enjoy!!!

for those of you that will swallow the new zelda and metroid and future nintendo kiddie projects...i feel bad for you....have fun being spoon fed games that deep inside you know youre dissapointed with....

as for myself....unless nintendo does something out of this world to win my love for its games again.....NINTENDO IS OFFICIALLY DEAD TO ME.....

hmmm,
i think the big N will survive, and I’m betting sooner or later some of us disappointed people might actually learn to like the new N. ;)
I think they are going through puberty.. or something equivalent lol.

Yes, the graphics for these games are \'bad\' or not your style so obviously the gameplay will be $hit.

No wonder Polyphony Digital decided not to even change one iota of GT2\'s gameplay for GT3 - just improve the graphics and the graphics whores will lap it up - "oooo greatest racer of all time because the graphics are (say it Sammy) - SOOO REAL".

I can\'t believe some of the negative comments I\'m hearing about the GC and Spaceworld, and many of them from previously staunch Nintendo supporters. What were you expecting - Zelda with blood and gore? Maybe Zelda Gear Solid where when you die Navi screams; "LIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNKKKK!!!!".

Spaceworld and the past few weeks have had the totally opposite effect upon me. This time last year I wasn\'t too keen on the GC - now I can\'t wait.

This is what I think about it.  Zelda looks brilliant!  Instead of Mimimamamomo just following the trend and making a game with even higher polygon count than the last, he completely changed the style of the graphics.  This game alone (literally, because I don\'t like anything else I\'ve seen on the NGC :)), is what makes me want a NGC.  The only Zelda I have ever loved is Zelda on the NES.  After that, the Zelda franchise went downhill IMO.  It seems like Zelda is going back to it\'s roots again.

This is a huge change from the previous few Zelda games, and I think it is a change for the better.  Again, this game looks brilliant.

if you dont care about graphics...and gameplay is all there is to you...then dont bother buying any next generation systems...stick with your NES or GAMEBOY....

gameplay should always be good...its the graphics that make a nex gen system work..not the gameplay because ANY console can have games that play well and are fun...but the whole point of a new system is to improve GRAPHICS!!!

otherwise one console per company would be enough.

Well I would concur with you but games like Mario Sunshine, Luigi\'s mansion, and Metroid not being given top priority because it is "mature" lead me to infer it has nothing to do with artistic vision but rather a shift to cater to Nintendo\'s very kiddish demographic.

Well lestat I agree with you on a few points mostly the disppointment with zelda and metroid.  But unless nintendo unviels a "real" zelda game.  Then spaceworld so far sucked.  Yes  SC2 isn\'t looking that great either.  I still can\'t believe what happen to zelda?????

What about the new controller? More realistic gameplay? longer gameplay?

PS2 is an example. They added pressure sensitive buttons to make it more fun.

lestat, have you played Zelda or Metroid yet? You\'ve seemed to have formed a pretty solid judgement already that they will both be low quality games and I find that extremely facinating.

First of all, they only showed us 2 seconds of Metroids. Those screens don\'t do the game any justice. You have to see it in motion and obviously you have not done so. It looks amazing. \'Nuff said. And you cannot form an opinion on it unless you have played it, same logic applies to Zelda.
