Well, I played Tekken 4 and...
« on: August 23, 2001, 05:52:58 PM »
my impressions are not too good.

My arcae, being the great arcade it is (getting VF4 and CvsSNK2 next week, too) got Tekken 4 today and I was there (like I\'m not everyday!). I was not too impressed with it.

Needless to say of what I have seen of Virtua Fighter 4 and DOA3, they put this game to shame. I feel like the game runs as smooth as VF3tb, a 5 year old game. The jungle stage with water running through it has a good water effect, but there is NO relfection in the water, merely shine.

The fight club stage does not look or play nearly as cool as it looked in the screenshots released earlier.

Of course I have some issues with the gameplay, since I always thought the series sucked, but it ain\'t impressed me at all.

and, yes, Paul is cheap-o matic. and Steve looks like a freakin Bouncer character with gay pants!

bleh, see for yourself when your shoddy arcade decides to pick it up.

Yea I havent played it but from what I see through screenshots and written articles it just looks so bland.  The fighters just dont have that cool sense of style as Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, or Marvel vs. Capcom games.  I mean sure, you have realism in Tekken 4 but why do you play video games anyway?

So let me get this straight...you hate Tekken, but you went to the arcade to play Tekken 4 and now we\'re getting a review of it from someone who hates Tekken? Hmm...

I was thinking the same thing.  It\'s all about the gameplay.  And how many of us actually thought Altered would like the gameplay anyways?  He has always been more of a Virtua Fighter player.

I never really liked the character designs for tekken much either.   But i have to say it is one of the most challneging fighting games I have ever tried to master.  Every time you get to a new level of play you discover more.  That\'s why it has kept me as a fan.  I\'ve seen the screen shots and while the graphics look nice, they arn\'t anything special for this generation, but that\'s never what tekken has been anyways.  I never looked at any of the tekken games and said damn that looks good. I just played it and really enjoyed it.  I really like this idea of wall as well, though it was used some in DOA2.  Anyways thats my 2 cents.
PS- Has anybody seen the DOA3 ad in PSM. It confused me because it\'s a PS2 mag with a XBOX ad. A mocking of PS2, or a clue of ports to come?

Eh, is that the ad that said something along the lines of "The grass is greener..."? Its more of a mocking of PS2 than anything. There are no plans to port DOA3 to any other consoles.

I don\'t remember seeing the ad, but I know PSM is very confident that DoA3 will get ported over to the PS2 in one way or another.

Hey! 182!

* Nu Gundam noogies 182Ways.

Long time no see. :)

I know it had something to do with the company that was funding PSM or something... They can put any ads they want in there.

I remember people saying bad thinks about Tekken3 when it was first released too.But I was very satisfyied when I personally playied it.Better than what Ive read and heard from people criticizing it.From the movies I ve downoaded so far I am happy with T4\'s graphics.

And I dont expect from Altered to give us gameplay info we can count on as he has never mastered any Tekken games.

So I expect I ll be happier with Tekken4 than what I hear or read.

BTW:Jin is the coolest character I ve ever seen in any fighting game.Even his winning posses are cool.Just download the video from tekkenzaibatsu.
