DRAKAN BRINGS DRAGONS TO THE PLAYSTATION 2!
Drakan on PlayStation 2 is much more than a sequel to the PC title Drakan: Order of the Flame, it introduces many new features and has vastly improved game mechanics, utilising the inherent advantages of the hardware to set an entirely new benchmark.

The action takes place in a world where civilization has crumbled. The story involves the struggle of a young woman, Rynn, and her dragon companion, Arokh, as they set out on a quest to defend the last remnants of civilisation by freeing a sacred Spirit Dragon, traditional defender of the ancient empire. Along the way they will travel to far-off lands and fight the powerful and evil Desert Lords, a race of wizards who seek to enslave the whole of humanity.

Gameplay is split between visceral, ground-based bloodletting, in which Rynn’s skill in armed combat and spell-casting come to the fore, and ferocious aerial combat as you ride on Arokh’s back, during which you will use a combination of Rynn’s archery skills and powerful dragon fireballs. Drakan merges action and adventure into a compelling and groundbreaking gaming experience, as the adventurers progress, defeating an ever-more amazing array of fantastical creatures, you will gain new skills and improved abilities.

Other elements that action and adventure fans will find familiar include the facility to acquire new weapons and armour, whether by ransacking the bodies of your fallen foes, or through trade: a fully functioning economic system allows you to buy the equipment you want or sell off what you don’t need. Drakan takes place in a large, immersive and magical land. To enhance the feeling of immersion into this mystical world, the traditional computer-game interface has been removed. For example, elect to look at a map, and Rynn will take a map out, the view altering and zooming in so that you, too, can see it.

Combining action-packed, ferocious and acrobatic ground combat and the awesome effects of flying and fighting on the back of a dragon with a hugely involving quest, Drakan PS2 is a unique take on the action adventure genre. It blends the genres of action and adventure into a compelling and ground-breaking experience to provide a game of unusual narrative depth

Is it just me or is the hack and slash genre being overused on the PS2?

depends how they go about doing it

In Drakan II there will be hack and Slash but also aerial combat

I don\'t mind Hack and Slash but there needs to be creativity in how the battles go down and how the Creature AI works

just mindlessly moving ahead 20 feet then button mashing a few times follow by a spell can get redundant, Throw in some creative defense and evasive move similiar to what we are seeing in Devil may Cry and we all get excited again

I\'ve very excited about this game, it looks fantastic and appears to have a quality about it

I love Hack n Slash games.  I love Dynasty Warriors 2.  When is the 3rd coming out?  Those Drakan2 shots are very nice.

It boggles my mind the lack of interest this game gets from so many people

The gamne looks better then 95% of all PS2 games out or soon to be released. Offers more then just overhead hack and slash action.

yet not many are really if at all excited about this game ????

oh well one last bump to the top

iM not interested in this game because it apears to be nothing but hack and slash.

thats a piss poor excuse Caspian

especially since you are interested in Baldurs Gate DA

at least in Drakan II you get to control the camera instead of overhead only, and you get to engage in aerial combat via dragon with a ZOE type of combat.

SO whats the real reason ????

Hmm, looking pretty good, nice shadows. The first time I saw this game it was on the back of the PS2 box in one of those little squares. It\'s the only game on the back of the box where, I haven\'t seen anything more about it.
I think that as long as it\'s a good hack \'n slash and it something different then it should do alright. I\'m not getting excited about it because there isn\'t any hype or news about it. If we saw more things on it then more people would start to talk about it.

Geez, just make me feel bad why don\'t you. It reminds me so much of Might and Magic and Rune. Although I have played them and I do consider them good games I just don\'t like to play them. Im a RPG and Strategy nut. Baldurs is a Action/RPG. I\'d give it a chance because you feel so strongly about it. But Im renting it first.

Its looking very good indeed, I havent heard much about this until now but it is promising. I liked Dynasty Warriors 2 and this seems to have more depth than that so I\'ll probably like it

Hey if I have to I\'ll beat ya till you say you\'ll play it ;)

Yes Rune and Warriors of Might and Magic are Hack and Slash, but I think Drakan II will be of a higher quality then those games and offer more then just straght up hack hack slash slash.

no biggie though, I\'m more interested in knowing why most everyone doesn\'t consider this game one they would keep an eye out for.

I\'m a bit sick n tired of all those games
with female hero protagonists. They\'re
all copies of Lara imo, with their volumnous
bodies.

Gimme a Man anytime ! LOL j/k:laughing:
