Xbox Delayed Till Feb 2002 In Japan!

According to  Ananova, Micro$oft is postponing the launch of its Xbox game console in Japan and Europe until, get this, February of 2002.  The Xbox will, indeed, bt sold in the United States of good ol\' America as well as the rest of the world in November, priced at $299 smackaroos.  Here\'s a snip from the article:

"We want to succeed first in the United Sates and ride on that wave in Japan," he told reporters. He said a price for Japan will be announced later but did not say when that would be.

Microsoft spokeswoman Shoreen Maghame denied any technical problems were behind the Japan delay, saying the decision was more about the "allocation of resources." The amount of initial shipment in Japan was not yet decided, she said.

There has been some speculation that Xbox has run into technical problems. Earlier this month, analysts at Thomas Weisel Partners reported the motherboard, the main computer part of the Xbox being designed by Intel, has a design flaw.

Microsoft denied the report and said it was on time to ship 600,000 to 800,000 machines for November in the United States.

Seeing as Microsoft never said an initial release date, its not exactly delayed. It can\'t be called delayed unless it had one. And as far as I know all the release dates for Japan were mere speculation.

But if this is true, it doesnt bode well for xbox in Japan. They will miss the christmas rush. GCN and PS2 will really cash in on this

well microsoft knows that it wont do wellin japan anyways, so they decided to go big in the us and cut back in japan.

Are you kidding me, you speak as if we live in Japan. Have you been following the XBOX\'s progress and games, I bet you will answer yes anyways and still say that you don\'t see how.

Look I have no plans on getting XBOX myself, I\'m a pc gamer, although I must say, XBOX looks like it is going to blow PS2 out of the water near the end of 2002.

I won\'t get into why cause that will take me a page to type, and it will then statrt a falme war, so I will say this, Only time will tell, but anyone can see XBOX is here to stay, without a doubt.
If I had to put my money on all three consoles it would be XBOX.

Xbox is not delayed, it is right on time
it does not matter if it is late or not,
i think GC is has a better lineup of game for at least 3-4 months, IMO.

dont worry ogodlything. i am not the type to start a flame war.

and from what i see, (although i bet i have not been following x box as well as you may have) the x box\'s launch will not be very good. sure, come christmas, the console will sell, but not too much, when the family with kids would rather head for gamecube.

ps2 already has a fairly large userbase in the us, and it is growing daily. so the ps2 does have a head start on x box.  around the launch time, it will launch, against gamecube, at 200$ and ps2 which should be at 250$. although given the x box will have more hype than the ps2 will, it will probably sell more than the ps2 at launch. but come christmas, well i think the ps2 will outsell x box because it has the better library of games,(at that time, IMO because it is all opinion) and x box will have really nothing heads over heels above ps2 that people would find enough to get the console sold. the internet shisnit for x box and ps2 will not be up by christmas. and ps2 will have SH2, THPS3 and metal gear solid 2, jak and daxter, all by christmas. the x box will either get ports, or older verions of those games aka THPS2X.

also, many people dont like microsoft because of their "monopoly".

the console will launch around the same time xp launches, so thetalk about the "monopoly" will be quite high.

given by 2002, who knows, but  the x box would have to get some crazy ass good games inorder to catch up by the ps2 then.

well we will see!! ill be here through it all, so we will see eh?

Ssso smahll..... I can actually picture that..... I hope Xbox does good in Japan..... Which I doubt.
