Games/Genres with the longest Replay value.

I\'d say it would be the strategy genre, no contest. I am extremely looking forward to playing GameBoy Advanced wars on September 10th. I had Super Famicom wars on an emulator, and regardless of the Jap text, it was a whole lotta fun. Expessially since you can create your own maps, and battle on them in GBA Wars. Strategy games always seem to keep on giving you different situations, realocation of enemy units, new attack fronts.  The path of the enemy units is effected by what you do, which makes it like a whole different situation everytime. Whole lotta fun. What da yoooo guys think?

I agree that RTS games do have a ton of replay value.  RTS games come in second place only being beat by Fighting games.  As long as you have some good human competition (I guess it\'s the same for RTS games too :)), fighting games never get old.

I think Civilization II by Microprose had the highest replayability of any game I have ever played.  That\'s a turn based stratgy game, so not an RTS strictly speaking.  I wish someone would release an amped up version of Civilization for the PS2.  Of course it\'s a bit harder to dominate the television for 9 hours at a time than it would be to dominate a PC.

Get two expert players and any true Street Fighter game (i.e, not Marvel vs Capcom 2 - it is not a true Street Fighter) and the replay value is endless as is the trash talkin\'.

I can\'t believe no one mentioned Puzzlers, like Tetris.

July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

LIC: Dead on.

I pride myself in being a SF master.  I STILL play SF2CE on Callus, and consider it a great game.  DAMN I love that game.

I doubt any player alive can defeat my Ryu, either.

For Replay, it\'s hard to beat RTS\'s because the game can change profoundly at any moment based on the tactical decisions you make. Expecially RTS\'s that give you a choice between taking control of one of several different races, such as Ascendacy and the Master of Orion series by Microprose.

I\'d also have to say that online games, expecially RPGS, are good for replay because the online world is changing on a daily basis due to either upgrades or the actions of your fellow gamers. Even PSO with it\'s static levels and non-continuous world is loaded with replay value because of the different people you can interact with.

Personally, the game which has given me the most replay is QFG as I\'m sure you all must have guessed. The choice of 3 character classes and over 20 attributes and skills which can mix/match character classes and unlock class specific events adds much to the games addictiveness. Naturally it plays differently with each different class, but when you mix match say a fighter with a mage.. you can have a character who can choose which path he takes when confronting an obstical.. which in turn determines the direction the game\'s story will take. Not to mention the games are so full of eastereggs that finding them all is a like a game in itself. After 10 years of playing, I\'m still finding new scenarios, text messages, animations, and hidden jokes.
