PS2 Potential....?
« on: August 29, 2001, 08:39:02 PM »
With the X-Box, I\'ve read a lot of comments of how the box is far stronger than the Ps2, which is obvious on paper.  But right now, we\'ve seen Ps2 games comparable to the X-Box.  My question is with the "supposed" ease of development with the X-Box shouldn\'t all games be "top-notch", or surpassing the Ps2.  Also if its so easy to develop for, shouldn\'t developers be able to max out the system quicker than Ps2 (ex. DOA3).  Which leads me to my next point, with the Ps2 so hard to develop for, I truely believe that until its fully understood (I don\'t even think Sony knows), the Ps2 will never be able to be scaled.  And even though it may not seem as powerful as the newer systems...., it just may be able to compete graphics wise.

Any comments....?

It may be another 2 years beofre the see the full potential of either the Xbox or the PS2...so...we haven\'t seen anything yet.  And Project Ego is obviously leaps ahead of any PS2 game...but I don\'t care.

Read any videogame website(even sports only sites) and they already talk how madden looks better on xbox,to blood omen.

But it really comes down to, do you wanna wait for a better version.

Ps2 is the king of turn based rpgs thats all you need to know.

The only reason Project Ego looks that good is because of the hard drive. If sonys HDD is recieved really well we might see something like that on PS2.

IM one of the few here who are going to own all of them so when it comes down to it, if the same game is released on 3 different consoules ; I would get the one with the best graphics. Unless but the odd twist of fate Another game has a special feature that didn\'t make it to the others.

Gran Turismo 1 and 2

Speaking of console \'maturity\' ....

Were ANY of PSXs original launch games and even the games out a year after launch in the US REMOTELY close to Gran Turismo 1 and 2?

NOT BY A LONG SHOT

I don\'t think I\'m worried about whether the PS2 or XBox will be \'better\' ... as if the word \'better\' means anything in this business.

I think Sony and Microsoft are looking forward to stiff competition and bitter battles ahead. Microsoft has one HELL of a hurdle with the hordes of Sony installed PSOnes and PS2s already out there with brand loyalty in the console business being a HUGE factor.

I wish both companies the best of luck... and I\'m going with the PS2 btw.... XBox is too much of an unknown to me with way too many titles on PS2 coming out that I want to play, not to mention Syphon Filter 3 which is a PSX game I can play on the PS2 I don\'t  YET own.
