WRC2001, not very good?

KungFu: Being the big racing game fans that we are here at PS2Faction HQ, we have been feverishly been awaiting Evo Studios\' World Rally Championship for months, and we managed to get our grubby mitts on it on the CenterSoft stand. Though our excitement soon dwindled as we realized the game wasn\'t actually all that good. For some peculiar reason the graphics in game are nowhere near as good as those seen in the numerous screenshots and movies released by Sony. The cars looked fine, but the environments looked very shabby with sharp polygons jutting all over the place. This made the terrain so rough that I managed to beach my car on top of a pyramid of polygons by the side of the road. Then there\'s the awful handling and physics, which coupled with the pointy environments meant you were flipping your car on to its roof in places that a real car would never flip (i.e. in the center of the damn road!). We both instantly made comparisons to Infogrames\' V-Rally 2, a rally game that is a generation below WRC, which doesn\'t bode well for Evo Studios\' effort. However, there is a small glimmer of hope. The demo that was shown could well be early code, but we figured as the game is due for release in a few weeks time Sony would much prefer to have a completed version on show. Only time will tell, but we\'re not holding our breath anymore.

Rallyman, that is a cool sig!  Hah hah.. I got the 2000 WRC video, and the stuff the navigator reads off makes no sense to me whatsoever.  Even when they\'re speaking english, it sounds like gibberish...

I think Colin McRae is kind of a jerk.  They should change the name of that franchise to Marcus Grunholm or Richard Burns!  Yeah Burns is cool man.

But the screen shots looked so good . Then what game were they showing all this time, if this one looks so bad? But like they said it could be an early version but damn that better not be the final version.

I always had doubts about this game. The screenshots looked good but nobody had ever had any reports on the gameplay which usually means there is something wrong (The Bouncer).

I\'d much rather wait for V-Rally 3 or Colin McRae3

Umm...you mean Gronholm.  McRae is good because he\'s just super competitive!  Person you have to dislike is Gilles Panizzi for two reasons.

1)  Anyone who can\'t race on gravel isn\'t a rally driver!
2)  He has the worst attitude out of all the drivers.

I remember that when Colin McRae 1 was out, people praised it and said that it was brilliant.  With Colin McRae 2, everyones (including mine) just dropped with how much better it was (when people thought that CM1 would be hard to improve on).  

If Colin McRae 3 takes the same leap, it should be absolutely unreal.  And also remember, CM2 to CM3 is also a platform change whilst CM1 to CM2 was on the same platform!

But hey, any rally game will do for now (that\'s why I actually took the time to get all gold on rally stages in GT3!!!!)

Thanks, I have a bad habit of spelling everything the german way.  Gronholm is Finnish, right?  Yes Panizzi is a big time A-Hole.  Peugeot should sack his ass, but he\'s French, so it probably wouldn\'t look very good.  At least Gronholm and Auriol have integrity.

Yeah.....somehow Peugeot seems to be gettting all the suprise packages of the year.  Last year with Gronholm....now with Rovanpera!  And yes, they\'re both from Finland!  
But totally agree with Panizzi.....he\'s only a part-time driver now....get rid of his butt totally in my view!

Panizzi and Peugot was fined $70,000 at the Safari Rally back in 2000(or was it \'99?) for punching another driver in the face when that driver\'s dust was obstructing Panizzi\'s visibility. Of course, that driver had no helicopter to tell him to pull over since obviously he had no idea how close Panizzi was to him.

Bad form. Panizzi should have been banned from the rally for the rest of the year.

Here\'s to wishing that Burnsie wins a WRC title soon... i\'m a big fan of the WRC and have had the oppurtunity to
meet most of the drivers. me got burnsie\'s sig somewhere downstairs.

It was in 2000 and if I was the navigator of the other driver, I would have decked Gilles...no hesitation!  The guy\'s a toss!
