Sega\'s total support for PS2
« on: September 07, 2001, 06:29:42 AM »
`` Given the momentum of the front-runner PlayStation 2, with its shipment already topping six million in Japan, Sony is likely to take a majority share here in the console war,\'\' Kayama said.
Sega, which has already released one title for the hand-held Game Boy Advance, is set to launch a title for GameCube on the day the new console hits the shelves.

`` The largest number of our development projects are for PlayStation 2, but we will offer games for other machines by carefully choosing suitable line-ups for each console to match their core customer bases and needs,\'\' Kayama said.

Microsoft hopes that its Xbox, which has a built-in hard drive and Internet connection, will have an edge over PlayStation 2, whose users need to buy a hard disk and external modem.

``Given the built-in online capability, we can start developing online games for the Xbox. But it is difficult to do so for PlayStation 2 since we don\'t know how many PlayStation users will buy accessories to link it to the network,\'\' Kayama said.

Sega said earlier this year that it would collaborate with Sony in developing online games.

``We are talking closely with Sony on a strategy to boost the number of online users among PlayStation 2 holders. We can\'t say where we stand on that right now...it\'s top secret,\'\' he said.

Well I say this is great news.  Looks like sega will be backing ps2 the most.

Well thats good news. :) Lets hope we start to get some real Sega support like Jet Set Radio Future and not **** rehashes like Zombie Revenge. :)

Wasn\'t JSR: Future set to come out on PS2, or is it just X-Box ?

What else can they put on ps2? Panzier dragon, gun valrykie, jsrf, shenmue, nba2k2, nfl2k2, virtua tennis 2k2, ncaa 2k2, crazy taxi all on xbox. And i CAN\'T remember what else is coming.

Maybe they will have some brand new titles on ps2? Who knows but so far it looks like sega has an even playing field.

As long as Sega makes a new Shinobi game for the PS2, I\'ll be content. I want to see a few more of their classics revisited, as well as some fresh content. Fantasy Zone IV, Shinobi 4, AfterBurner3, Streets of Rage 4... come on Sega.. these games are what made you famous. You can\'t just abandon these great franchises all together!

SEGA DOES NOT OWN STREETS OF RAGE FOR. There was some info about a new streets of rage about 5 months ago. Some independent game developers where doing it. They wanted to bring it too xbox. It was posted on msxbox forums a long time ago. It is so long ago that it would be impossible to find the link. Well not impossible but it would take a long time for me to search it. going back 5months of threads.

Dude, chill out and get your facts streight. Streets of Rage IS a Sega franchise of old. Weither they sold the rights or licenced them out to a third party within the last five years is unknown to me but it IS/WAS a Sega made game so back off schmuck.

And hey, even if the RUMORS were true.. then Xbox can have SOR4 for all I care.. just as long as PS2 gets Golden Axe 4!!

Chill out QuDDuS quit acting so dumb.

SoR is still owned by Sega. Give me a link to where you heard that they didn\'t and I will repeatedly crap on you. You heard wrong.

Classics that need revisiting by Sega:

SoR
Shinobi (like the game gear ones!)
Panzer Dragoon
Alex Kidd
Wonderboy
Burning Rangers
Shining Force
Dragon Force
Deep Fear
Sonic (old style)

any I missed? I don\'t care where they go, but I would prefer X-Box or PS2 since I would have those before GC. ALthough GC Sega games would definetly provide me with cause to get one.
