Read it and feel proud America!

Sorry have to post this!

Quote
A TRIBUTE TO THE UNITED STATES
This, from a Canadian newspaper, is worth sharing.
Widespread but only partial news coverage was given recently to a remarkable editorial broadcast from Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian television Commentator. What follows is the full text of his trenchant remarks as printed in the Congressional Record:

America: The Good Neighbor.
"This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the earth. Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts.
None of these countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States. When France was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it.
When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the United States that hurries in to help. This spring, 59 American communities were flattened by tornadoes.
Nobody helped. The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped billions of dollars into discouraged countries. Now newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent, warmongering Americans.
I\'d like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar, build its own airplane. Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas DC10?
If so, why don\'t they fly them? Why do all the International airlines except Russia fly American Planes? Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or woman on the moon? You talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy, and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy, and you find men on the moon - not once, but several times - and safely home again.
You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everybody to look at. Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American dollars from ma and pa at home to spend here.
When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both are still broke.
I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don\'t think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake.
Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I\'m one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of those."
Stand proud, America! Wear it proudly!!

Uh...

I think he\'s aiming his ammo the wrong way. The whole world is backing the US up in this tragedy, everyone is offering help, blood, military, condolenses (sp?), you name it. Perhaps the article would have fit better in an earlier decade?

This can\'t be typical of Canadian beliefs at this time.  No Canadian I know or have ever met would say things like this.  Even I, a US citizen would never say this stuff, and nor would any of my friends.  This is not just pro-american, it\'s anti-everyone else.  I\'m not into that sort of thing.  All this makes me skeptical of the source of this quotation.  Could it be this was an attempt at humor?  I will have to look into it.

This article was actually written in the late 70\'s, I believe. I have seen this article many times before. In fact, if memory serves, Gordon Sinclair died in the late 80\'s.

Need I say more???? A huge terrorist attack on American Soil with damage in the billions and were still helping others out!  Yeah we suck??? Note the fu*kin date! A little close to the tragedy that has plagued us wouldn\'t you say??

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - In another move to calm global financial markets rattled by the terror attacks on the U.S., the Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank agreed Thursday to a swap arrangement aimed at aiding the cash needs of European banks affected by the disaster.

Under the arrangement announced by the U.S. central bank, the ECB would be able to draw up to $50 billion, while the Federal Reserve Bank of New York will get an equivalent amount of deposits in euros, the ECB\'s sponsored currency.

"The ECB will make these dollar deposits available to national central banks of the Eurosystem, which will use them to help meet dollar liquidity needs of European banks, whose U.S. operations have been affected by the recent disturbances in the United States," the Fed said in a statement.

The swap line is set to expire in 30 days, the Fed said.

You have to learn to totally ignore his posts.  Anytime you see the aliens in his avatar you should know not to read it.  Luckily he likes to write text in a totally unreadable blue.

On another note, how anyone can say this text from this canadian is bogus, well you are crazy.  It\'s mind boggling how much money the US pumps out to other countries.  We give billions of dollars to Russia.  They have a missle defense.  We don\'t..   Hmmm.  How can they affor dit and we can\'t.

We give money to every country with the sniffles.  A lot of the money we give granted in turn gets pumped right back to us by helping the economy, but for anyone to say that we don\'t give WAY more than we receive, you are in need of serious mental health.

That is a very nice article, but it was written in 1973 by Gordon Sinclair as Weltall said.  He died in 1984.

Here is the article with a description but it seems to be down at the moment.  And here\'s a quote on another BBS:
Quote
Michael, if you read the responses, you\'ll note that this article was written in 1973. It\'s just being dredged up by bad journalism (ie. the internet) and reported as a new item. The author has been dead for ~17 years.

i dont think the guy is pro usa and anti everyone else, i mean if you read what he said, no europeans gloat at america when they see the dollar value drop, only the stupid 3rd world countries do.

there are soo many US, and UN soilders around the world in peace keeping efforts, many of the soilders dont see their family for a year or more.

true, the USA has helped many countries, but given, the United States IS the most powerful country in the entire world, so it has to set an example. it is the home of the free, and the home of the brave.
IM BACK. you have a problem with that? get in the back.

QuDDus.

Do you mean to tell me that this country has been so evil as to earn your contempt?

Do you know why America used to be LOVED by Middle Eastern countries?

Because back when European countries were still considered Super-Powers, they were colonizing the living sh i t out of everything they could get their hands on.  Did America?

Nope.

Sure, you can point out certain liberties that the gov. of the USA have taken, but, some could consider those the spoils of war, rather than flat out taking of land.

For example:

The Pacific Islands from Hawaii to the Phillipines.  Taken from the Spanish as the aftermath of the Spanish war in 1898.  Same thing with Puerto Rico.  Hell, we even supplanted the very freedom force we backed up in Cuba with THE SAME EXACT SPANISH RULERS.

Was it fair or equitable?  Uh-uh.  Was taking of land from the Indians a good thing to do?  Hell, no, and it sickens me.

Am I glad I live in America, the way it is now?  Am I now, and will I always be proud as a m other fu cker to be an American?  YOU BET YOUR SWEET, SORRY AS S!!

It sickens me when pieces of crap like you and "Rage Against the Machine" constantly tell you how evil America is, but benefit from the same "machine" they are raging against.

So, who is more evil, America, or the scumbags who decry it and wouldn\'t leave if you held a gun to their heads?

If you wanna see how great America is, I suggest you go 10 minutes past the border of Texas and visit a wasteland of a town called Piedras Negras.  I was there about 6 or 7 years ago, then had a friend go down there 4 months ago.

You will never, ever, ever feel better to be an American, as when your plane touches down in your home town.
Let those who stand for tyranny and injustice fear the hell the United States will unleash upon them.
