I think this has a lot to do with Bush saying that this will be a war like no other wars.  This is going to be a very stressful war for these terrorist.  They are going to be cut off from the entire world.  They will have no allies.

This also probably has a lot to do with how we are going to go after nations who harbor terorists.  Granted these losers live in caves and are very tough to get to, but they will will have no money and no friends and no where to go.  It will be like they are in the Big Brother House.

The only mistake the usa is making is trusting these western countries. I mean they say they are not for terrorism but they don\'t want to help fight and get rid of it.

When this all goes down they will show there true colors. They had the former pakestand prime minister on Cnn and he said these guys with bin laden that flew the planes into the wtc where not even from afghanastand. They where nativeas of other countries.

So I think the WE should just proceed with much caution.

Hmmmm, nice read, really making me think.  All I know is that we need to send a message to the world that terrorism will not be tolerated.  6,500+ people died on Sept 11.  We cannot just simply sit back and do nothing.

Get to their leaders (ie- bin Laden, Sadaam) and they will be less organized and less resourceful.  Then maybe an immense tragedy such as WTC will never happen again.

Warfare against these people has to be extremly smart.  We have to outsmart the locals, weed out the terrorists from the innocents and find some sort of a pattern (if one exists) to differentiate between the two.

Brilliant article and I think what he said was so very true. IMO you can\'t just bomb a few \'bases\' and think you\'ve won the \'war\'. It can\'t be done that way. And either way it won\'t be pretty...

Very good article.

i think sending in remote smart bombs is pointless, either put troops there, or forget the whole thing altogether, you might kill one terrorist to 100 civilian Casualties. If that happens there won\'t be a coalition, but WWIII   IMO.

we will have to go in. and i bet we wont send new recruits in there either. i bet we will send special ops troops into the country to minimize losses.

sure afganistan is tough,  but we will ahve to go in and fight. there is no alternative. unless you are a stupid ass.

You forget some things about the US military, and the way the Afghan struggle was fought last time around.

First, we have seen our share of the "enemy" wearing sheep\'s clothing in Viet Nam.  Our gov. has most assuredly learned how to deal with these insurgents.  There\'s no way you can go through something like that and NOT learn about it.

Second, Russia\'s enemy was armed, trained, and supported by the most powerful country on Earth, America.

No such luck for these guys this time around.  They will be cut off and hunted down by the people that taught them their tricks.

Granted, they probably have some stuff up their sleeves, but, for the most part, it will be a totally different fight, altogether.

We have learned from our mistakes, and the mistakes of others, including Russia.

We may not be in as much trouble as they think.
Let those who stand for tyranny and injustice fear the hell the United States will unleash upon them.

they are not willing to give their lives to osama, they are giving their lives for the sake of their religion, islam. osama is just their leader....

they have a fatwa or "holy war" on the us. so they are doing it for their religion.

There was a great piece on Dateline from inside Afghanistan.   What a sad country.  The poor people.  This Taliban has to be gotten rid of.

They showed public executions that they do in a soccer stadium that came from money donated to the country.  When the reporter asked the Taliban gentleman to stop doing executions in the stadium he said they would if more aid could come in for them to build a public execution facility and then they would re-open the soccer for soccer.

These people are irrational.  They must be exterminated.  They are not human.  They have the regular people of afghanistan eating bread crumbs and living in delapidated structures.
Hideous.
