CAN Michael Jordan do it at 38??
« on: September 26, 2001, 01:37:25 AM »
He is back. And he will play two seasons with the wizards he will give his first year nba salary to the wizzards.

Some say he is only coming back because he stands to make 30-50million in endorsements. But he is already one of the richest men in the country so I don\'t see no reason for him to come back for money. Forbs magazine had him clocked at over 300million. So it\'s not like he needs the money.

But can he do it at 38?? He is bringing that fat tub of lard barkely with him it. I hope MJ knows what he is doing it would be sad to see him fall on his face with all the young guys in the nba.

Umm, he\'s not giving it to the Wizards. He\'s donating it to the relief efforts for the terrorists attacks.

And he is not bringing Barkley in with him. He is going on his own with the ultra young Wizards team.

I personally think he won\'t be exact MJ of old, but he will probably still be an all around great player.  I just wanna see how he matches up with the new guys.. Bryant, Iverson, McGrady, etc..

I dont think he will be an All Star. But he will still be a good player. I think good on him. If he still loves basketball, then why not continue playing. Who gives a fu

I think he is only coming back to bring the stock up in the Wizards.  He fills those seats giving the team more money to get better talent.  He plays for two years and they will have money to spend to hopefully get a playoff team together.  Then Michael drops back out and manages the team again.

I am just curious what it\'s going to be like walking by your statue and seeing your retired jersey in your OPPONENT\'S ARENA!!!

I really think he should have just stayed out.

As far as him not being an all star... Um, give me a break.  He could sprain his ankle in the first minute of the first game, be out all the way to the break and they would still have him in the all star game.  He only needs to average 6 points per game and I think he would still be an all star.

Jordan will get his azz beaten down in this league.  His bullsh1t cheating and favorable calls will evaporate when the fans turn against him.  He will be crippled by Thanksgiving.  So let it be written...

I like MJ, of old.

I just hope he does not embarrass himself too much, :(
a lot of young players will want to show they can outplay him.

He is only giving his nba salary and not the millions he will make in endorsements. I mean you never know man I bet it would surprise everyone to see a 38yr old MJ dominating the league. I can\'t wait to see if he still has it.

Do you guys forget who we are talking about here? MICHAEL JORDAN.  The greatest basketball player of all time, it doesnt matter his age.  I mean sure maybe when he is like 60 but...38?  He lost 40 lbs in the last year getting ready for this.  I cant wait for him to come back and slap around all these arrogant players(cough cough Kobe) in the NBA who whine that their 40 million dollar salary isnt 60 million.
One thing im not quite sure about though is why?  Did he not retire last time under quite possibly the best conditions?  Im not arguing, but go out in fashion.

HELL YES he can

MJ at 75% is still better then 99% of the NBA

but MJ plays to the beat of his own drum, he\'ll find ways to make major impacts

The real question is does he have enough support

Ehhhhh. It\'s gonna be interesting to see how it goes. He will be playing small forward, which is a new position for him. He used to play shooting guard.  So you probably won\'t be seeing him against Iverson, Bryant, McGrady... etc all too much. Instead look for matchups against Grant Hill (who was once said to be the next MJ until he got injured), Antoine Jamison, and umm.. I dunno. That\'s all I can think of right now. Also, aren\'t there like new rules in the NBA.. Which will probably make it easier for people to defend him since he doesn\'t have to have the ball to be double-teamed.. (If I\'m wrong sorry, cause I\'m just going with what I know). Also, without that much of a supporting cast (Pippen, Rodman, Harper, Phil Jackson coaching, etc.) I wouldn\'t be surprised to see him get frustrated like hell. And everyone knows what happens when MJ is pissed. :)

He better be able to do it at 38.  I\'ll be there in a few years and I hope I will still be able to do it.  Heck, Tony Randall just had a kid a few years ago and he\'s 103.
