Definitely get Twisted Metal: Black first.  It\'s worth it, and you\'ll get lots of enjoyment out of it.  I don\'t use the PS2 to play DVDs, but if I did, I would think the infrared remote was unnecessary.  Of course it\'s cheap... only USD $20 as I recall.  Why not get both?

Fastson i think i have the answer to your problem, don\'t quote me ;) but i think the delay has something to do with the WTC attacks.

on one of my DVD demo disks there is a level where the battle takes place in a old air field/port.

and not only is it possible to shoot down the choppers that carry the power ups but i also saw one of the cars downing a Passanger plane

maybe someone can confirm if this is the case.

Also over here in the UK we still having TV programmes and AD\'s cut.

EXAMPLE
Buffy the Vampire slayer season 5 episode 5 (NO PLACE LIKE HOME)  last night on BBC2, Buffy fights GLORY the HELL GOD and flees with the Monk, GLORY gets mad and brings down the wharehouse, now the scene where she climbs out of the rubbel and says"boy i am mad" at the end was cut.

so if you want my advice mate  get the DVD remote and like me wait for word on Twisted metal black.

We should at get newsof all the offical Europen Delays in the next edition of The Offical Playstation 2 Mag.

I read a letter too from some other guy at SCEE.. Ill try and find it..

EDIT: Found it..

"Dear Sir
Thank you for your email regarding the release of Twisted Metal Black.

Please be assured that the release of this game is merely under review and no decision has been made at this stage to not release this game in the UK.
The issues surrounding the release of Twisted Metal Black are not just concerned with the terrible events in New York, but also for other content that Sony feels need to be reviewed carefully before any release can be made in the UK.
We fully appreciate that there are gamers who are avidly awaiting the release of this game, and we would like to thank them for their patience in this matter. However, a company as big, and with the reputation of Sony, must take in to consideration a number of factors including classification for age restrictions and also for how the general public and media may interpret the content, even if it is only a game.
Yes, the game was released in the US and did actually attract a number of complaints in the US and other countries and this is why we are reviewing its release in the UK.
I would like to thank you for your interest in this matter and look forward to receiving emails from you in the future.

Sincerely,
Steve.

I hope it doesnt get canned!!

Well seeing that it has been released in the States (if it has been that is) i think they will just wait until the situation calms down and its appropiate to do so.

anyhoo ill be getting the Remote sometime next week (Also remember the new Driver updates will help fix the minor DVD "BUG\'s" too.), the Dual Shock 2 is good enough for simple DVD movie Access but it can be a pain if you need to hit a set scene.

Or like me have a hyperactive cat that hits the second controller and jumps it onto the next Scene.

Damn Sony they should market PS2 CAT GARUDS to stop this form happening

remember there are games that are not effected by the events in America and they should still have there release dates unaffected by this move.

i think and Hope Devil May Cry is still due for a Pre christmas Release.

DAMN IT, WHO COMPLAINED???  I can only surmise that this is a load of horsecr@p, and in fact NO ONE complained because it makes no sense whatsoever.  If it did happen, that really ticks me off.  Probably Little Johnny Redneck stayed home from school on 9/11/01, and his Grandma Bitty was watching Dan Rather run footage of thousands of REAL people dying over and over and over...  Grandma Bitty went into the bathroom to relieve her blatter, and Little Johnny Redneck powered up his PS2 and started playing Twisted Metal: Black.  Grandma returned from the bathroom just in time to see Little Johnny get blown up and run from the flaming wreck of his car on fire.  Grandma Bitty phones up Sony and screams  "Why did you make a game where FAKE PEOPLE burn up??? I wanted to watch REAL PEOPLE burn up, and my grandson only wants to play your game!!!!"  Sony, being the ultraconservative transnational corporation that they are, took immediate action and delayed the release of all marginally questionable products around the globe.  Oh man.  Sorry, Rant over... hope you got the idea.
