I am starting this thread for people who have completed Silent Hill 2 and would like to talk about the game and what they thought it was all about.

I just finished the game this weekend and my wife and I were contemplating whether or not the things really happened in Silent Hill or if the whole story was just in his head? Was he really there in Silent Hill or was the entire story just an internal battle. I would like to hear what you think and what were some of your favorite parts?  I think the part that really made me jump was when you knock on the stall door in the womens\' restroom of the prison area and then start to walk away, that was really smart of them, they caught me off guard with that one.


Let me know your "creepiest parts" and any symbolism you may think of.
Example: the room with the pistons in the "fleshy walls" where Angela says "NO DADDY, NO" representing the act of sex.

I think it is about half and half.  I believe he really was in "Silent Hill" but it was Samael who was perhaps bringing his own personal demons (maria, the embodyment of all of his denial) to life.  I think it was different kinds of demons for each of the characters.  Eddie, and Angela were dealing with demons, but of a different sort than James saw.  Angela would see her father, but you would see a funky "table demon".  And if you notice before the final fights, there was a seal of Samael proving his involvment.

Who is this Samael? I didn\'t get to play the first Silent Hill, was he a character?

He was the evil baddy behind everything.  He is a very powerful demon.

Yep. Samael controls Silent Hill. I thought Silent Hill 2 was more of a side story. Silent Hill tells why the town is like that, and the sequel is some one else\'s expeirences is the town. I get the good ending. Where James leaves the town with laura. Overall, I thought this was a very good game, and Pyramid head\'s sword was my favorite weapon.

I got the "Leave" ending also.. but I hear most poeple get the "maria" ending first.

I did not know there were 2 endings. what do you have to do to get the "Maria" ending?  Do you not shoot her in the last sceen? or is it based on how well you did in the game. How many endings are there?

there are 5 endings all together.

no single ending is better than the other there just all different. Obviously different gamers will have there favourite.

Maria- Supposedly the easiest to get.

In Water- If you play badly and get hurt alot.

Rebirth- If you replay the game and pick up the four hidden artifacts.

Leave- The hardest to get supposedly.

Dog- An inside joke of an ending for those who have played silent hill 1.

And as to Angela saying "no daddy no"
I read that the game makers named streets after certain authors. Such as Lindsey Davis, Thomas Harris, Ruth Rendell, John Sandford, David Wiltse, Andrew Vachss.

play the game again and you\'ll see what I mean when you look at street names.

Lewis Carroll - Is famous for Alice in Wonderland

Ruth Rendell and Thomas Harris- are both famous for horr novels.

Andrew Vachss - Famous for writing books that deal with child molestation. Which makes Angela\'s story make a little more sense.

about the game though?

I think whoever this sam demon is...simply makes Silent Hill what it is. I don\'t think he picked on James personally.

I think for each person who goes to Silent hill they face different demons that only they can fight.

Harry Mason in the first Silent Hill had to deal with his loss of a daughter, the loss of a friend (lisa) and the grief with his dead wife.

*THE FOLLOWING MIGHT BE A SPOILER, i\'m not sure because I haven\'t seen all the endings. i only have the leave one*

as for James Sunderland he has to deal with how he murdered his wife because he couldn\'t stand to see her the way she was and because he couldn\'t stand how hard it was on him.

One of the creepiest parts for me was when I saw my first nurse...standing at the end of my flashlight still then when I took a step closer she began to violently shake and emit sound creepy noises as she walked towards me with pipe in hand.

I also jumped when I knocked on the stall in the women bathroom in the Toluca prison and then when I went to leave you hear a loud thump.

I also thought the whole Brookhaven hospital section of the game was creepy.

Well, I must say this game has been a lot of fun...


So far, this are the endings I\'ve gotten...

In order of getting them...

Leaves ending--- This is probably the best ending from what I can tell.  You finally understand everything about Mary, and you walk off out of the town with Laura.

Rebirth ending--- This is one of the harder endings to get, I assume.  I mean,  you have to find those 4 special items...  It was kind of a confusing ending, but it was still pretty cool...

Dog ending---  This one is just funny as heck!!  You get that dog key, and after you play the tape in the hotel you go use it on a room in that same hall and then there\'s this dog there with these control sticks in his paws...  The dog runs over and licks your face and the rest of what happens you just have to see to realize how funny it really is.

So, I just need to get the "in water" and the "Maria" endings now.

Only 2 more times through...

Atj give me some pointers on how to get the leave ending.

I played the game and got the leave ending, then like an hour later I loaded the game because I wanted to listen to the music with the credits for the leave ending. But now all I get is the in water ending. Needless to say the music is different and I need to get the leave again.
