Just give me NiN\'s "Broken" LP and I\'ll be a happy guy for quite sometime.
;)

By the way - Linkin Park blows. So does Staind, Limp Bizkit, Korn and others.

When did the new Slayer come out?  I loved their last CD, but one thing I have to admit is that Slayer isn\'t the same without Lombardo.:(

Listen to anything by Pearl Jam and you will understand why I love rock so much

Better yet, grab 6 CD\'s and just listen.

Slayer: Seasons in the Abyss
Guns & Roses: Lies
Ozzy: Blizzard of Ozz
Scorpions: Crazy World
Bob Seger: Best of (Yeah, not metal.. but still rock)
Bad Religeon: All Ages (Again, not metal.. but Punk is a cousin)

Follow up with a healthy dosage of Pink Floyd\'s: Momentary Lapse of Reason if you still don\'t understand.

Then you should try some of these bands , they have all incredible drummers (WARNING: No easy listening - progressive stuff) :

Psychotic Waltz - A social grace (best album ever)
Confessor - Condemned
Death - All of the newer stuff
Watchtower - All
Symphony X - All
Dream Theatre - especially the first two albums

But I think the Jazz szene still has the majority of best drummers.

Maybe I didn\'t explain myself correctly.

I know most of you hate hip-hop. I like hip-hop. In fact its pretty much 80% of what I listen to. Now if someone were to ask me what I liked about hip-hop I would say that above all I love lyrics. now I\'m not talking about no Cash Money Bling-Bling type of bullsh!t. I\'m talking about really intricate lyrics with a lot of metaphors and plays on words. That is hip-hop to me. A lot of the stuff I listen to gets no play on the radio. People like Wordsworth, Copywrite, Chino-XL, Big-L. These guys can really flip words around and make some hot music. Others that I like that do get air-time are Jay-Z, Eminem(Not as much as I used to), Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Pharoe Monch, Pac, Big, etc.

Examples:
Quote
Eminem\'s verse take from "Renegades"
Since I\'m in a position to talk to these kids and they listen
I ain\'t no politician but I\'ll kick it with \'em a minute
Cause see they call me a menace; and if the shoe fits I\'ll wear it
But if it don\'t, then y\'all\'ll swallow the truth grin and bear it
Now who\'s these king of these rude ludicrous lucrative lyrics
Who could inherit the title, put the youth in hysterics
Usin his music to steer it, sharin his views and his merits
But there\'s a huge interference - they\'re sayin you shouldn\'t hear it
Maybe it\'s hatred I spew, maybe it\'s food for the spirit
Maybe it\'s beautiful music I made for you to just cherish
But I\'m debated disputed hated and viewed in America
as a motherf*ckin drug addict - like you didn\'t experiment?
Now now, that\'s when you start to stare at who\'s in the mirror
and see yourself as a kid again, and you get embarrased
And I got nothin to do but make you look stupid as parents
You f*ckin do-gooders - too bad you couldn\'t do good at marriage!
(Ha ha!) And do you have any clue what I had to do to get here I don\'t
think you do so stay tuned and keep your ears glued to the stereo
Cause here we go - he\'s {*Jigga joint Jigga-chk-Jigga*}
And I\'m the sinister, Mr. Kiss-My-Ass it\'s just the

Quote
Big L\'s 2 verses from "Danger Zone"
The microphone is through when this rap legend grab it
Sendin poems to have them f*ggots diggin hoes like Reverand Swaggart
L\'s the nigga that crime follows
I\'m hittin fine models and stabbin punks with broken wine bottles
I beat chumps til they head splits, then break em like breadsticks
I sex chicks, I\'ll even f*ck a dead b*tch
Always sprayin Tecs, because I be stayin vexed
Some nigga named Dex, was in the projects layin threats
I jumped out the Lincoln, left him stinkin
Put his brains in the street
Now you can see what he was just thinkin
I\'m chokin enemies til they start turnin pale
Satan said I\'m learnin well, Big L\'s gonna burn in hell
Front and get scarred cause your rap style ain\'t even hard
I run with a thievin squad, and NONE OF US believe in God

I got styles you can\'t copy b*tch, it\'s the triple six
in the mix, straight from H-E-double-hockey sticks
Every Sunday, a nun lay from my gun spray
F*ck Carlito, we doin\' sh*t the Devil Son\'s way
Every minute, my style switches up, they said a real man
won\'t hit a girl well I ain\'t real cause I beat b*tches up
I use words that\'s ill, L got nerves of steel
I\'m cool, but every now and then I get a urge to kill
I\'m takin lives for a great price, I\'m the type
to snap in heaven with a Mac-11 and rape Christ
And I\'m fast to put a cap in a fag chest
The Big L smash stress, cause hell is my address
I\'m on some satanic sh*t, strictly, little kids
be wakin up cryin, yellin, "Mommy Big L is comin to get me!"

These are just examples of the wordplay used. i also love beats. A good beat makes good lyrics ten times better.

BTW, There are a lot of live band rap groups. The most popular being "The Roots" from Philly.

If lyrics is something you like I suggest you check out TOOL

Nobody out there writes lyrics like Maynard from TOOL, they are complex and every word in it means something, it\'s just not put together because it rhymes.

Slayer also has some quality lyrics, especially Kings lyrics and some of Hanneman\'s stuff.

I never see any videos on MTV.  It\'s probably "How you Remind Me".

Leader of Men.mp3 is really good, from their last album.
