First off, I\'d like to thank ajoh432 for telling me about this place. Secondly, I heard about this Jumpman fanboy of Kidtendo(Hehehe!). Now I had a good MSN talk with ajoh about this. I\'ll share with you all. I\'ll go through each of the consoles.
PlayStation2
PS2 has the one year headstart, and the 2 million userbase, I believe. People still want PS2s, and in November it will churn out some great games: ICO, MGS2 I think, and Devil May Cry. PS2 will also get its HD, modems, LCd screen, keyboard, and mouse in November too. So basically, it has a battle-plan.
Thing is that if you want all those accessories, that\'d be about an estimated $500 total put into your PS2 (counting the PS2\'s $300). The price drop also got confirmed as not happenign this year. So other than money, which ins\'t too bad of a deal, PS2 is in good shape. And there\'s also the GC and Xbox hype too, so would\'ve- been buyers of PS2 might forget it and get a GC or Xbox.
GameCube
GC has the cheap price, and the appealingness towards younger kids. If parents are consoel shopping for their kid, even if she/he wants an Xbox, the parent would probably get the GC thinking,"It\'s cheaper, and it\'s still one of the newer ones. Plus, I know Nintendo for makign good material." Nintendo also has its fanatic fans, who\'ll die for them. And i have to admit the Mario games are cool. The GBA connectivity is a good idea too. A GBA owner is considered a possible GC buyer.
The bad is mainly the ****load of delays. The console got pushed to Nov. 18. 3 of it\'s supposedly good games got pushed back: Pikmin to december, Super Smahs Bros to December, and StarFox Adventures to Jan. 2002. Another thing is the purpleness and gay handle, that\'ll keep male adolescents away. Also, Nintendo hasn\'t metnioned crap about online plans, which I bet they don\'t have, or at elast they won\'t work out. GC has almost no advertising, except a magazien ad I saw in EGM with a naked, fat guy, in a cube shaped bath tub. That ad probably KEEPS people away. Then there\'s this weak Cartoon Network sponsorship. Kids are porbably identifying, GC as another name for GBA, since GBA has dozens of commercials on that channel. Also, Nintendo screwed up Zelda. ANd the launch gaes aren\'t appeasing. Luigi\'s Manios is repetitive, WaveRace is a rehash, Madden will be on everythign else, Kobe Bryant Courtside as so far been only a mediocre game on N64. The games peopel want wont; kick in til December, like Pikimn.
Xbox
The good is that it managed to get some good games. It\'ll get most of the good PS2 games, like Silent Hill, MGS, and probably FF11 and a Chrono game form Square accordign to rumors. Also, you get broadband connections and the 10 GB HD right out of the box. MS has lots of money for ads. The last EGM had an ad for just about each game comign for Xbox at launch and followign launch. Even EGM\'s cover was a centerfodl for a Halo ad. Speakign of Halo, xbox is gettign good exclusive material like Cel Damage, Dead or Alive 3, Munch\'s Oddysey, Mad Dash Racing, and Air Froce Delta Storm 2.
The bad is the $300 price tag. Come to think of it, that\'s a good deal. PS2 s $300. Xbox is better than PS2, and it\'s also $300. i can see it now,"Get an Xbox for the mere price of a PS2." I bet they\'ll use that catchphrase. They should at least. Another bad thign is the bundle pakages. Actually, most of the retailers sold out the $500 bundles within 30 minutes. so that turned ot well. Good thing is that some retaierls won;t do the bundle thingy. The ast bad thign is MS\'s street cred with people, adn the controller\'s face buttons are arranged strangley.
That\'s it for now, Honestly, I can;t really predict who\'ll win. Sometimes I say Xbox will. Then I\'m thinking, "No, defintely PS2." Then "maybe GC, but you never know."
But if I think real hard I think it\'ll PS2 or Xbox. But GC might be strong.
