IT ISN\'T SO!!!  Ha ha ha.

It sounds like MGS2 has lived up to the hype.  This is from OPM and was typed from the magazine by members at the IGN forums (take it for what it\'s worth I guess. :))

The Last Game was good, really good. It set standards that nothing managed to match on the PS one,and will forever be a landmark in the way that games communicate an experince with the player. Some players complained that it was too short, but they were the same people who skipped the cutscenes, ignored the story, and ultimately missed out on the whole point of the game. Over the years,Metal Gear has evolved from its simple ancestry into something thats as much an experience as it is a sereis of gameplay challenges. So many games claim to suck you in and entrap you with the storyline, but i\'d hazard a guess that nothing has ever grabbed you the way this will. If you even have the slightest inkling of what all the fuss is about with the Mgs series,you\'re no doupt exceptionally excited about Nov.13. Few games have been so closely guarded in terms of their content, even with two spectacular videos and a damn fine playable demo realeased so far in advance of the game itself.

Now that I\'ve spent so much time with the finished game, its quite a challenge to convey my enthusiasm for it without spoiling anything. Forgive me if this review speaks in somewhat general terms, but there are some suprising events that,if I spoiled them for you, would seriously, seriously ruin the whole game. I\'m not refering to the way the story unfolds either. There are geniune emotional shocks to be had throughout, and so many twists and turns that you will be utterly transfixed.

There are moments, beginning quite early on,that will have you on the edge of you seat and possibly even screaming at the game. And I\'m not talking about the usual way that games have you screaming at them because they\'re so frickin annoying. I\'m talking abotu genuine, heartfelt anguish. Before going any further though,I want to allay some fears. Even if you savored every moment of the last game,it was only about 10-11 hour experience. This is fine for many of us,but alot of fans were dissapointed that it was over so quickly. The fear with sequels like this is that very often when the pretinnes factor is increased exponentially(and damn is Mgs2 a good looking game0,the depth and length is affected addversly. I\'m pleased to report that this is both longer and a far more involving game than the last time. The first time through, its going to take you about 15 hours or so to crack the whole thing. Sure, you could probbaly zip through it alot less if you skipped the cut scenes but what fun is that. Story plays an even bigger part in Sons of Liberty than last time, and those of who are impaitent will no doupt be itching to start blasting your way through things with abandon. Pleas Please Please dont,I\'m not the one to tell you how to go through a game and enjoy something-but to get the full impact from this, you really need to pay attention to whats going on. The grace and subtetly with which the story unfolds is significintaly better than any other game you\'ve played-and it challenges most lousy movie scripts too.

The Game is filled with intrigue, emotion and excitement all the way through. As before, the characters and your relationship with them play a big part in the way you fel about the game. Snake is still the archetypal gravel-voiced "hero". He\'s not within out fault, though, and he\'s certinnantly not all good, but he has a certain han solo qauility to him. Well,I could go further and drop hints about chracters with darth vader snece to them, but I wont pin character names to them because you\'ll want play the game and pick up on this yourself. As with Metal Gear Solid, all of the characters are treated with great care in the way that they develop. Even those who seem with out any hope of redemtion are illustatredd with a sympathy that forces you to understand their actions. Foutune,in a paticular,is worthy of note.as she\'s a character driven to crave death because of the predicament that shes finds hereself in thanks to the actions of others. Yes,you have to fight her,but once you start to understand her motivation, the relationship takes on a whole new dynamic. While the stopry unfolds with spectacular effect, the gameplay itself is exciting and varied also. The classic Metal Gear Solid sneaking is still evident, but the excitement is dialed up to 11 thanks to the first person modee which is seamlessly worked into the control system. Combat is frantic and stressfull, and as with everything else in the game,if provides a real feeling for the situiation that you are in. Boss fights are unbelievably tense as you find yourself desperatly trying to take out the bad guys while juggling other tasks at the same time. If you thought that the fight with raven or Metal Gear was stressful, your blood pressure is going to skyrocket when you play this. If anything, its at these times that any limitations of the game reveal themselves as the controls are sometimes on a touch of the complicated side. While fighting one particular boss you\'ll be running arond with your gun drawn, shooting in first-person view mode, then haveing to switch to another weapon, look around, use that, then switch back to previous weapon again, all i na matter of seconds. It soounds simple, but if you break your concetration for a nano-second you could forget whats what. There are moments in the last game that made you chuckle but this game will make you lauph out loud a couple of times. Theres tons and tons of visual gags as well. Some areas in the game will truly blow your mind.

Forget what anyone says about the game wave-race on the gameube;the best wayer you\'ll see in a video game is right here. I know everyone was expecting this game to be good, but I have to tell you I was shocked at just how great it is. I dont want to come accross as cliche but the story is so damn good, once you start playing you wont want to stop. Couple this with the fact that it has some of the best plot twists a game has ever dished up,and you have reason enough to devote an awful lot of your time to this game. Final Score: 5/5

I can\'t wait.
