FFX US release date = Dec 26
« on: October 30, 2001, 07:37:08 PM »
so says a bunch of IGN posters last week

but what interests me is that http://www.Sonyweb.com  just update there release list and FFX is scheduled for the Day after Xmas

This is actually a smart move by Sony if they have anything to say about it since EA is the US publisher.

WHY you ask

Cause if you are like me when I was younger I always got lots of cash from a boat load of relatives on Xmas, and since I would be going to the gamestore to pick up a must have FFX I would have all that cash in my pocket to burn on more PS2 games since I\'m already in the store with a whole burning in my pocket

Hope its true !!!!

But isn\'t that the day after Christmas?  Oh well.  At least it\'s still being released earlier than thought before...:)

Thanks for the info...

i dont know about it being released after xmas..some stores will be closed even a day after xmas. and shipping the games would be a boat load and hectic..if they do, companies are taking the risk of shipping packages

another reason why i think it wont be released after christmas is, where will some or most people be during the holiday ?.....on vacation. so no one will be here to buy the games. so if they release it right after christmas, they will be losing alot of sales.

if they are smart. release it first or second week of december or next year

There are two things wrong with that.  1.  Games don\'t go on sale for one day only and then are taken off the shelves.  They are for sale for months and months, and sometimes even years after they are released.  People can easily come back from their vacations and pick up a copy.  2.  There are stores all over the world.  They could pick it up on their vacation if they think they need to.

Very good to ehar friend. The only thing I have to complaine about is that I have to visit my girlfriends familly all around christmas. I never had much fammily to visit before so I could do preety much anything. If this is true then I would be greatly pleased and disturbed at the same time.

The day after doesn\'t make any sense since for the games to be IN stores the day after, they would have to arrive a good two days before since NOBODY ships on Christmas day... at least in the US.  So, if the games are there already, why not sell them?

im not saying that you sell it for one day and then take it off the next. the point of selling software is to try and make as much sales. isnt that their purpose for games is ? for us to enjoy while they dig in our wallets ?

MGS2 will no doubt be the biggest launch game in history. so why not release it a day after thanksgiving better yet, after xmas.

so you going to tell me software companies arent after sales? that is their main goal.

think like them..think marketing strategy.
