Blockbusters!

Is this right?, I rented resident evil code veronica x last night. To cut a long story short I broke the DMC demo disk that came with it. I took it back to blockbusters and they want me to pay for a full copy of resi evil!!!!! thats like 40 squids isnt it??. Is this right? can they make me do this??, I mean they cant make me do anything, but is this the norm???. Just they have my credit card details.

if you dont\' pay, they won\'t touch your Credit card, but they might get some collection agency after you, you can keep the game, and pay them, or just... forget about it.

or go buy the game, or find some with the demo disc and go drop it off to them and tell em to F#uck off...

Yea I was thinking bout trying to get the DMC demo disk from ebay or yahoo auctions but cant find anyone selling one. If anyone on these forums knows where I can get one in the UK pls let me know ASAP.

Have you tried going around to electronics stores that had the DMC demo on display?  They might still have the Demo and if you tell them your story they might be nice.

Go to a store where you saw a PS2 kiosk with DMC demo playing in it.  Since they probably don\'t use it anymore, the demo might just be sitting in the back room collecting dust (unless one of the employees took it home).  Go ask the manager if they still have the DMC demo.  If they have it, tell them your story and ask if you could have it (or buy it for like $5 or something).  Chances are if they still have the demo, they will give it to you because they probably don\'t want it anymore.

You might have to check with British law, but here without your consent they can\'t charge your credit card, make it clear that you don\'t want to pay for the game (that is, you gave consent when you gave them the card against future late/penalty charges, but you can tell them not to charge the card, if they do, VISA will reverse it at great annoyance/cost to blockbuster).  They can only ask you to pay what the demo is worth, so they might argue that to replace it would cost the cost of veronica X, but since DMC is now out, and I\'m sure they\'re renting copies, I don\'t think that they would win such a fight.  Talk to the manager, as for some reasonability, offer 5 bucks, and give/show him the broken disk so he knows you aren\'t stealing it.

Ahhhhhh I see. There are no shops that have a PS2 demo unit playing. But I\'ll ask around the few electrical shops that we do have and see how it goes. I think if I dont replace the DMC demo they will send a credit company after me, as this did this once when they said Id lost a vhs tape, but I hadnt, just a screw up on their behalf. Is it worth me putting a new thread up asking if anyone would sell me their demo?.

Spend 7 dollars and by the demo isc nad just say that you had it replaced.

Why dont u f*ck BlockBusters up and superglue the disc together and then take it back to them and hope they dont recognize anyways hope u find a good way to get it back to them in 1 peice :P cya

LMAO @superglue. Maybe I should use sellotape instead. On how did I break it, I ejected the disk, left it ejected in the tray and went to the bog. Heard a crash , came running out and found my little neice had pulled the power cord out and the PS2 had crashed  onto the hard floor!!!!. Demo is now in about I would say
4 pieces.

be an adult and pay for it
buy a used copy of RECVx, keep the game and give them the DMC demo

blockbuster did you a favor by renting a 40$ game to you that you could beat in 5 days, return it and save 35$
