Question about Capcom Vs SNK 2
« on: November 11, 2001, 01:27:59 PM »
After you select your team and at the vs. screen, it says you can change the order of the characters by pushing the red, yellow, and blue buttons......my question is how do you change the order.  I tried pushing different buttons at that screen and nothing happens.

Thanks.

You have to press either both weak punch and kick, medium punch and kick, or fierce punch and kick at the same time.

Ironfist, thanks but you after you pus LK and LP and the squares light up, you can only use the buttons on the pad so you can only change the order of 2 out of 3 characters.  The L and R buttons dont work on that screen and two of those L and R buttons has to be a Punch and a Kick.  Do I make sense???

You\'d only need to make two changes to make the entire order different.  If you change the order so one character is in the front and another is in the middle, it bumps the order.  Let me draw an example:

1. Ryu
2. Rock Howard
3. Haomaru

Pressing both medium buttons will make this change:

1. Rock Howard
2. Ryu
3. Haomaru

Pressing both lights will make this change:

1. Haomaru
2. Ryu
3. Rock Howard

See what I mean?

I\'m not sure if I understand what you are saying, so I\'ll just go through this step-by-step.

Lets say you choose 3 players, A=Ryu, B=Joe, C=Blanka.

When you get to the order select screen, you can decide which order you want your characters to be in.

If you want Blanka(C) to be first, Ryu(A) to be second, and Joe(B) to be third, you would press this (assuming you kept the default controls):

fierce punch + fierce kick (R1 +R2) , then weak punch + weak kick (Square + X).

If you want the order to be C,B,A you would do this:
R1 + R2, then Triangle + Circle.

If you want the order to be A,C,B, you would do this:
Square + X, R1+R2.

I hope that helps.

EDIT: Ryu, if you want to have your guys come out completely opposite of the order you chose them, then you would need to  press two button combinations.  But other than that, your right about only needing to press 1 combination of buttons.

What I meant was that you don\'t need to press all three combinations of buttons to make it work.  I thought he was trying to say that he needed to press all three combinations at the select screen to change the order, that\'s just not the case.  Besides that, switching the order is kinda pointless.  If you\'re any good at the game, you\'re original order should be more than enough to take out any opponent.  Even the lame bosses at the end, which are totally weak.

Is it me, or does the difficulty level on Street Fighter just keep getting easier as hell?  Maybe I\'m just getting better and better and better... ;)

I don\'t use that order switching either, but I think it might be useful in vs mode.  If your apponent waits until you pick your guys and then picks guys that are good against them, then you can switch the order and make it fair.  But I haven\'t really ran into that problem yet. :)

And yes, the game is pretty easy.  I turned the difficulty up to 8 stars right when I got it, and I only had trouble with Shin Akuma at the end (because my groove wasn\'t very good against him, and because I turned "quick continue" on, I couldn\'t switch my groove without restarting.)  That is why this game is best played against human apponents, just like all other fighting games.

Ironfist and Ryu:  I do see what you guys mean, but my problem is that when I do try to select the order w/ the L/R buttons, those buttons dont seem to work in that screen.  For example, I picked  (1)Ryu, (2)Guile, (3)Blanka and my controller set up is like this:

LP - R1
MP - Square
HP - Triangle
LK- L1
MK - X
HK -  O
Punch x3 - R2
Kick x3 - L2

Ok, I can select who goes first between Ryu and Guile by pushing MP and MK or by pushing HP and HK, but I cant make Blanka go first.  I tried pushing LP and LK (R1 and L1 buttons) together, but nothing happens. I tried using another controller and tried the default controller setting.  The L and R buttons dont work for order selection .  Does it make sense?

Ok, I know what the problem is.  No matter what your controls are set up to be, the order select screen uses the same buttons.  For example:

First guy:  Square + X

Second guy:  Triangle + Circle

Third guy: R1 + R2

Use those buttons to switch the order, no matter what you controller configuration is.  You can\'t use the L1/L2 buttons to change the order, even if you have those buttons assigned to punches or kicks.

Waitasec... The button layout is basically the same, but a lot of in-game stuff is different.  The standard buttons are as follows:

LP, MP, HP
LK, MK, HK
LP+LK, MP+MK, HP+HK
x3Punch, x3Kick

11 total buttons for the game.  However, some of those can be done without assigning a single button to them such as the kick\\punch combinations.  I don\'t see how anyone can function with the 4-button layout on the PS2 controller without at least using 1 set of the L and R buttons though.  It all depends on what super method you prefer though because the supers make different uses of the different buttons.  For example, the x3\'s are used for a quick recovery in the N and K super styles, but they are not used in the CAP or S styles.  It all depends, but your layout may change quite frequently if you like to move around and change supers quite often.

The most basic structure is the C style where there are 3 levels of super meter, air blocking, rolling... Just the stuff present in the Capcom super style in the first Capcom Vs SNK.  Also present is the S style on the SNK side which is also the same as the SNK style from the first Capcom Vs SNK.  These supers are two strong points to leap into the game with so the waters aren\'t all that unfamiliar.  The other variations, A, P, N, and K make the game totally new though.  The N style is particularly great with the dodge tactic and short jump as well as the quick recovery.  It\'s really a great deep game with so many variations and so many things to be prepared for.

thanks for the info ryu :)

I\'m really looking foward to this game, since CvS1 is one of my favourite fighting game ever. Its a shame that we euros have to wait untill december, and I fear that our port will have borders and slowdown
