Buy PS2???

I bought a Dreamcast about a year ago for $200 and soon after the PS2 was released. I thout that I shouldn\'t buy every system so I was going to wait for the xbox. The problem is I didn\'t want to spend $300 (like $500 for bundles). I also heard the the xbox doesn\'t look much better than the PS2. Do all of you strongly recommend the PS2? Is there going to be a price break soon because of the xbox release? Please e-mail me.

If anyone asked me which console to buy right know, I would say a PS2 is the way to go. Of course I would also recommend that you look at the games that are out for each system and look at the upcoming titles and see if they are to your tastes.

Asking that question around here might result in some  knee jerk reactions from some.

Get a PS2 because it has the best titles line up.  Have you played one yet?  

Reasons to get ps2:
1) MGS 2
2) FFX
3) dvd playback
4) psOne compatible games
5) backward compatible with all most psOne peripereal
6) SSX Tricky
7) Virtua Fighter 4
8) Tekken 4
9) Soul Calibur 2
10) TM: Black
11) GT 3
12) GTA 3
13) THPS 3

I mean, the list just go on and on!

Reasons not to get ps2 but xbox:
1) four controller ports
2) built in 6 gig harddrive
3) built in eternet adapter
4) A bit more powerful than ps2 (high polygon counts and RAM memory)
5) $300, same as ps2 but I believe XBOX is loosing more money for each system sold than ps2.

So if you like me go for games, ps2 is the #1 choice!
But if you go for graphic, better option and cheaper, xbox is a good choice.  I know, ps2 is kinda expensive when compares to xbox, but it had other advantage too, like you don\'t need to get a $30 remote control to watch dvd like xbox, backward compatible with psone games and accesories...
I just hope sony should think about adding the network adapter out of the box for free instead of making it as an *add-on*.  In that way, they have a better chance of getting people online instead.  Even though, 16 million games own ps2 without one, its still not to late to give it for free out of the box.  There will be many million mor people who are going to buy ps2 sooner or later.  Add on had never made a good history, only future will tell how ps2 is going to go.

A good way to choose is to do your research - read the mags, websites etc.. ask around. Try to play both systems and make your own judgement, look at the pro\'s and con\'s from your point of view. It definitly isn\'t a easy choice - unless u want to get both.

You don\'t need to read crap, they are bias most of the time.  You need to go to the store in the erea you live to check availabilty of games for each console.  Then play each one personally.  Buying a ps2 was one of the best and most rewarding decisions I have made in a while(other than my divorce)

ha...I mean yea.  most of us here likes PS2 (duh), so askin\' us won\'t be a good idea because your only gonna hear the good thing about ps2.  So go buy a ps2 now!:evil:

I thought u guys knew that there are console mags (totally unbiased), which has all the lowdowns on all consoles (or at least most) AND never get advice from any fanboys (bill gate worshipers)

Allways wait for at least 1 year before purchasing a console, at this point you should see a number of things.

1, Amount of games available.
2, Quality of games available.
3, Ability of manufacturer to iron out console bugs.
4, Amount of consoles sold.
5, Indication of imminent price drops.
6, Company drive (are they behind the console 100%)
7, World coverage.
8, The most important street factor - Credability, has it got it?

If you buy a console before 1 year you can only be partially sure of the above points.

At the end of the day, it\'s up to you. You pays your money and you takes your chance.

I always wondered why people would buy consoles at launch - then complain about bugs. Not forgetting, after 1 year there are better deals with more games.

Gamewise PS2 and Xbox will be about the same. There will be a few games that will remain exclusive like GT3 for PS2 and Much\'s Oddysee for Xbox (to name a few).

But if you want access to a large amount of excellent games, you have to get the PS2. There\'s still a lot of games on the PSX that have better gameplay than a lot of today\'s games. Then there\'s the 2nd and 3rd generation PS2 games you may want.

As for Xbox, it\'s newer and has more graphical power (uses current PC hardware - nothing revolutionary) than the PS2, of course. Halo is getting a lot of press and I\'m sure FPS fans will hail this as a reason alone to get the console.  DOA3 is a shinier version of DOA2 (with better tag team) - though I still think Virtua Fighter4 has a technically deeper gameplay.

One thing to consider, you can bet the PC developers that jumped on the Xbox wagon will be porting some of their games to the PC.

Yeah I agree with Jas2k1, people were complaining at first cause their PS2\'s weren\'t working and one of the reasons was that Sony were in a rush to develop more consoles they hardly got round to exterminating the bugs.
The demand was so high!
I got mine in october and if you wait the best deals will be out around christmas, as the first deal, the PS2 with GT3 which cost £219 was very popular.
It also depends on what games genre you like, as Sony have satisfied mine with Pro Evolution Soccer, GTA3, Fifa 2002, Jak and Daxxter, Smackdown!3, Crash Bandicoot 4,MGS2,  Devil May Cry, Resi Evil Code Veron-X, and Crazy Taxi among others.
Ignore what people are saying about the X-Box and GameCube as you should look back at all the quality games on the PSone and realise that you will get that quality on PS2 only better!
I\'d say buy one asap as you can\'t go wrong with your cash!
