Well, I finally broke down @ spent some money...
« on: November 23, 2001, 12:15:41 AM »
Picked up a GC and an X-box. Yup, there goes my bank account. :D

Anyhow, I was @ Walmart today around 2 am and there happen to be one Xbox left, so I figured I\'d get it. Didn\'t buy any games though, will pick something up @ EB tomorrow. (That way I can return what I don\'t like.) And I need to friggin spend even more money to buy the Advanced A/V pack, and its necessary components. (more money, yay.) Anyhow, I really like the interface of the X-box, it\'s really sleek, and sounds cool. Better than what I thought.

I guess I will be picking up Halo + DOA3 tomorrow. Yes, I\'m aware of the cheesefest that DOA is, but I need some nonsense till the king arrives (VF4.) And I *might* pick up Gotham, anyone have any comments on it?

As far as the GC goes, I got it @ launch. A jet black one, w/Monkey Ball + Rogue Leader. I like both games, but then again I\'m only @ the Hoth level in RL. So many games, so many consoles, so little time. And yet, I keep spending money. (You\'d think I\'d learn.) :) Not to mention there\'s some PS2 games I have that I haven\'t even dived into (THPS3 + GTA3) .. ugh.

So how many of you are in the same predicament? Gaming overflow?

Gee, why\'d you waste your money on Gamecube?!?!?!!

/jackass mode

Monkey Ball is my favorite launch title, as the mini games alon make it worth the price of admission.

Project Gotham is definetly better than what reviewers have said. People were expecting a GT3 clone/killer and it is neither, a totally different genre deserves a totally different praise. They took off points for lack of car customization, but no points were taken off in GT3 for lack of damage, a SIMULATOR.

Beasty, did you pick up a GC? Or you just played Monkey Ball somewhere? It\'s definitely a nice game, addicting, and hard. :) Leave it to SEGA to make a game with Monkey + Balls fun.

Anyhow, I might pick up Gotham later, I don\'t think I should though. I really didn\'t like MSR, so why would I like this one? Oh well, I guess I can always return it.

What games did you get for your Xbox?

Dude battle of Hoth is simple! If you cant beat that your dead in the next 2 levels. (Prison Of Maw and something Reandezvous.)
1.FF7
  2. Grandia
  3. MGS
Is it me? Or does PSone own all the other systems?

When exactly did I mention that it was difficult and that I couldn\'t beat that level? Just curious how you translated what I said into that.

I hate it when reviewers base their scores on how close to the gameplay is to what they want the game to play like. Sometimes they just don\'t realize that their comparing diffrent types of games. It seems to happen often enough too. I.E. Gamespot\'s Splashdown review takes of points off becuase the game doesn;t feel like a sim and there is no giant wave mode. WTF? They\'re basically saying it sucks because it\'s not Wave Race. Same goes for PG Vs GT3.

No.

I actually either pimp (myself included), or mug as many elderly women that I can. You\'d be surprised how much money they carry around.

(Yes I have a job.)

Man, datamage, you went all out.  I think I\'m going to get an X-box, too.  That way I can finally play DOA3 and the upcoming WWF game.

It\'s funny actually.  For people with jobs, buying an xbox is not that expensive.  Younger people (who work part time or not at all) are in awe that I just went out and picked up an xbox.

I can understand why buying 2 new systems + games + accessories would be crazy for some. I guess if someone has a decent job, it doesn\'t seem to be that much.

Emperor,

Go for it man. If you have some cash aside, then grab one. :) Good luck on finding one though. I think that\'s another reason why I wanted one, just because they were hard to get.  ;) (not a very good reason, but I am not disappointed.)

Watchdog,

I don\'t think it\'s that expensive either. Considering what we are getting with the Xbox. The HD is one hell of a memory card. :D

(Not that I\'m made of money, I\'m far from it. -- People just have different ways of spending their cash.)

Wow, dm, that\'s exactly my situation.  I\'ve since abandoned my university drinking binges and the money I save there alone more than pays for my gaming habit.  Dropping a grand is about a week\'s work, and really it\'s not that large a chuck of cash.

I will eventually pick up a GC too, I actually had one in my hand and was on my way to the register, but since none of the games really interested me, I opted for Amped, PGR and an extra controller for the xbox.

BTW, Amped is a kick ass game--truly one of the best games I\'ve played in a long while.

When does Jak and Dexter come out?  I almost picked up Munch in desperation of a platformer.
