Madden 2002
« Reply #15 on: November 29, 2001, 06:25:39 PM »
Yeah I got this game like in October. I play it like mad even today. Of course my favorite team is the Niners. And I\'m not one of those queer Niner fans that has one jersey, the bedspread and just says that "I love the Niners, did they win last week?" . Those people piss me off bad.

Here\'s hardkore of a Niner fan I am:

1. Niner clock
2. Niners watch
3. Niner show curtain
4. NFL Sunday Ticket, to watch the Niners every sunday/monday
5. A room littered in Niners posters.
6. 8 Niner jerseys with different players, (My fav is Jeff Garcia)
7. About 20 "Niner" articles of clothing, hats, etc.
8. Sports Illustrated, "Shinin\' Niners" DVD
9. 7 Autographs from the Niners "Gold Rush" Cheerleaders.

AND MY MOST CHERISHED NINER ITEM:

A signed Joe Montana helmet.

Yep, and not only the Niners, I can bet you guys money that I know the most about football (at the age 15, nothing earlier than the 90\'s) in these forums. I can name entire Niners roster off the top of my head.

----

Anyways, Madden is a kool game, I started a season as, who else, the Niners. Dropped Kevan Barlow\'s ass to ease my salary cap, and continued the season with "my man" Garrison Hearst. I play on Pro cuz\' I like the games to be close and exciting. I finished the season and now I\'m starting a franchise.

Here were my stats at the end of the season:

Garrison Hearst= 1600 yards, 10 TDs
Jeff Garcia= 4484 yards, 48 TDs, 2 INTs, 600 yards rushing
Terrell Owens= 2213 yards, 22 TDs (I threw to him alot)
J.J. Stokes= 985 yards, 11 TDs

Bryant Young= 14 Sacks, 5 Forced Fumbles, 3 Fumbles Recovered, 1 TD
Dana Stubblefield = 11 Sacks, 2 Forced Fumbles, 1 Fumble Recovered
Lance Schulters = 9 INTs, 3 Touchdowns, 1 Fumble Recovered

Tai Streets = 6 kick return TDs

I went 13-3 and won the Super Bowl, I don\'t turn the game off if I\'m losing I just play it out.

The only thing I hate about the game is how EA Sports always makes the Niners suck year in and out. WTF? Why the hell were the Niners rated so low in Madden 2002? EA Sports are retarded cuz\' look at the Niners now, 8-2 and tied for first in the NFC West. Next year Madden 2003 better have the Niners with an overall of 90 at the least or I\'m gonna show up at EA Studios with a shotgun.

But I\'m king at Madden. I can\'t wait till this game goes online!

OK mr Big ass ego. First off.. Like Ive said before. Dont blame EA for making the 49ers suck. The only reason the 49ers suck in the game is because the 49ers sucked in "real life." Its sick how ignorant your being, and Im not trying to flame but "8-2 this, 8-2 that," The game came out last month! you expect this seasons ratings to be on the game?
Anyway.. Im not sure why you didnt just start out in franchise mode, cuz after you finish the first season you go on to season 2, then season 3 and so on.
"I\'m king at Madden" No offence but at Pro level anyone can be good at this game. Chill out on the talk, and blame your precious "niners."

Point is, the Niners are 8-2 now, and EA Sports projected them at a what, 66 Overall? Like the Bengals?

EVEN BEFORE THE SEASON STARTED, football analysts predicted the Niners to go to the playoffs with the wildcard. EA Sports just uses some cheesy system that gives all the crappy overrated teams a good overall score. But I just like to use the Niners as they are always the underdog against anyone in that game and whoop @$$.

And the Niners didn\'t suck last year. 6-10, yeah, but finished winning 4 of their last 6 games and Garcia throwing for over 4000 yards and going to the pro bowl. And he\'s rated only 85 in the game. He is easily one of the top 5 QB\'s in the league.

1. Kurt Warner
2. Jeff Garcia
3. Brett Favre
4. Peyton Manning
5. Donovan McNabb

And by the way, just cuz\' I play on Pro doesn\'t mean squat. I play All-Pro as well but their games aren\'t as exciting cuz\' scores are always low (remember I\'m using the Niners which EA Sports hammered). So I play on Pro where the games are more exciting using the Niners.

I\'m sure though EA Sports is finished under-rating the Niners and Madden 2003 they\'ll have an Overall of no less than 85.

And I started a season before franchise cuz\' it doesn\'t really make a difference. Does it? No.

Lower scoring doesnt nessacerily mean less exciting. Well to me it doesnt. I like it when you have close tight games. Its more intense and every little play matters.
But I\'m not saying higher scoring isnt as fun either. Its just good to have close games, and high scoring ones every now and again

My favorite things to do is running the ball, and kick-returning. And on All-Pro, using the Niners, it is damn near impossible to break away.

Anyways, with those problems mentioned aside, you can just edit the team and boost their overall status to your liking. So it doesn\'t really matter really.

I found kick/punt returning fuqin hard as hell to come back with a touchdown. The day that happens, Ill save the Replay just fer the sake of how hard the shyt is. I cant wait. I get hyped already just playing the game, my blood presure doubles every time I play this game.

In Pro I returned 3 TDs, and they were pretty but I didn\'t save them. My fav is where I run straight forward to the 20, then take a sharp right, and then loop around and go left, then loop right, and the entire defense ran into my blockers and it was an open feild down the sideline.

The graphics are great and the gameplay is wonderfull. I havent played any football games since 64 so this is a very very drastic change. :) Well, I played a little bit of NFL 2K1 on dreamcast but this IMO is way better. They have Madden Trading cards in the game which you can get using what they call tokens, which are achieved by completing Madden Challenges... For instance, If you complete a 90 yard touchdown pass, or Return a punt for a touchdown(which isnt an easy task at all) you get a certain amount of tokens which add up so you can get a pack of cards, and theres a lot of challenges and a whole hell of a lot of cards to get so it will take awhile before you get all of them. You can also trade cards with someone else if they have some in thier memory cards also. I thinks its great for them to add stuff like this in games. I was going to wait for Sega Sports NFL 2K2 which I know will be a blow out but... Madden is classic. :)
I havent even gone through each game mode yet but I will back to that after Ive had the game for at least two-three days.
Anyway, If any of you are thinking about getting this game... do so. Its worth it. THE best footbal game out to date IMO. :smokin:

I think he\'s saying that Madden 2002 and 2001 are the same.

If he is, he\'s wrong. Madden 2002 corrected all the flaws in 2001 starting with 2001\'s strange "lifeless" stare on the players, lack of emotion, poor physical appearance, and a lousy special teams engine.

I\'ve played both 2002 and 2001 to death and have noticed significant changes being that 2002 is much more crisp and flows nicer. Players don\'t get tackles awkwardly and don\'t run through each other.

Lol, one flaw I HATE though on 2002 that isn\'t that big of a deal is that when your opponent is kicking their extra point, you can take a player and run ALL the way back, through the stadium walls and into an endless space. That\'s kinda gay.

LOL, I never really tried some shyt like that.
I guess EA never really thought anyone would just run backwards into the stadium, so they didnt code anything to stop him from dissappearing into the abyss.

Yeah, I love it though how you can interact with people on the sideline.

Like 3 out of every 5 plays I knock down the line judges and dorks holding the first-down marker, it\'s funny as hell.

I now see why you Americans love NFL so much. I\'m playing Madden 2002 to death. I have even watched a few games on ESPN recently. Its really cool.
I\'m building my franchise. The Ravens. Playing it on All Pro. Havent changed my team much. Just beefed up my Offensive line. The weakness in the Ravens. Now I\'m going to wait until the draft to get in some hot shot rookie Wide Reciever

Im still pissed about the draft picks you get for a new expansion team. Its total BS, no one person on that draft pool is over like a 65, overall. But then again, you cant expect your BRAND new team to be the best right off the hook so Ill just have to go through some seasons. Oh and right now, my second season.. my Alcoholics(created team) are 0-6-0. Its pathetic!
