Michael Jordan vs. Allen Iverson
« on: November 29, 2001, 08:41:59 AM »
I don\'t know how many of you on this board are big sports fans but if you were watching TNT yesterday Michael Jordan and his struggling Wizards went into Philadelphia where Iverson and his crew had one 7 of the last 8 games. Michael Jordan poured in 30 points and led the Wizards into a victory!

I was shocked, maybe this could be a turn around for their team. Just goes to show you don\'t underestimate Michael Jordan.

Iverson had 41 pts. in a losing effort.

Michael Jordan is soon gonna have to realize that he cant compete with others like he did before! Being 38 on the basketball court with the likes of Allen Iverson and Kobe Bryant is gonna kill him. If you saw the game between the Wizards and the Sixers you would have been able to see that M.j. was struggling!!!
Keep it sideways......Initial D style!!!

Comparing him to Allen Iverson and Kobe at 38 isn\'t fair at all, for one they are two of the best point guards right now, so just because he doesn\'t seem to be doing as well as them doesn\'t mean he can\'t do just fine

You don\'t know much about him do ya? Iverson was into all of that stuff before playing pro-ball(probably still is). AI is far from a wanna-be.

As far as the topic..the wizards just got lucky..how many wins do they have?..like 2? MJ is just making that team look twice as good by not losing to bigger point margins.

How is he a wanna-be if he has been there and done that?

Allen Iverson is an amazing player, regardless of his off-court activities.  In earlier years, he may have made some rash and unintellingent descisions, but, what the hell does that have to do with his abilities as an athlete?

I do agree that the Wizards got lucky, and that the Sixers took them too lightly.

And yes, I am from Philly...

PS- yeah, so what, we are talking about B-Ball, but, the Eagles are my fav team.

Michael looked fine last night.  He has tendinitis now so he picks his spots to turn on the afterburners.  That\'ll get better as the season goes.  I know, I\'ve had it.  Its something that does\'nt go completely away unless you rest it for months but if you just work and get it stronger it becomes more tolerable.  Most NBA players have it to some extent, its why Vince Carter missed the dunk contest last year.  He was better by the playoffs though.  Michael had his usual shots, he just was\'nt hitting them.  He\'s still averaging 27 a game after taking 3 years off though.  As far as comparing him to Iverson last night, Michael played the far better game.  AI was hot as hell in the first half, but failed to get his teammates involved while Michael was setting picks and setting up Richard Hamilton all night.  Rip had 28.  Sixers next leading score was Derrick Coleman with 15.  Larry Brown, the Sixers coach said it best, "Michael controlled the entire game tonight, playing the game the way its supposed to be played.  Some of the other guys (hint:Iverson)were allowed to play it the way its not supposed to be played".  Allen Iverson took last nights game as a personal one on one battle with MJ.  Because of that his team lost the game while allowing Jordan to out-class him.

IMO,
I think Iverson is one lethal shooter, (wouldn’t be surprised if he gets MVP again) i watched the Wizards game and the Raptors game before that one, he is explosive, and if he can be contained to 20-25 points a night, your team did well. If you can\'t then on most nights Philly wins, unless the rest of the team is cold. I wish he was playing ball with Carter, damn that would be sweet to watch.  I think kobe is a great player, but without shaq could he last the season? Maybe, maybe not, …

Anyone see the Orlando game today? God what happened with the Magic? Boston? At home? Sheesh.
Tracy had no help, he can’t win all games alone, someone has to step up. They are 7 – 9 They were to be the big contenders this season, right now they will be lucky to make the playoffs.

That is why I think LA has the best team, Shaq and Kobe together kick azz. If one of them ain’t playing the team is mortal…

A wanna be Jordan?  What the hell are you talking about?  They have two completely different styles of play.  It\'s quite obvious how unique they are to each other.  If anyone was a Jordan wanna be it would be Kobe Bryant.
It seems as if the people [casual gamers] that we consider to know absolutely nothing are the ones that actually know the most important thing: Name brands don\'t make the console, games do.
