if this is true, then that\'s really sad news. By Microsoft using such tactics, Sony will soon be forced to aquire developers even more than before.

take 2 is a talented developer, but I\'ll get their games for the PC. If MS wants to win this war they need CONSOLE developers

Like Naughty Dog and half of Psygnosis (which both, for the most part, were a part of Sony as opposed to Take 2 and MS). Now, if MS does purchase Take 2 (which is a pretty...not nesscesarily big but certianly pretty prominate in the game industry after GTA3), will that make Sony do the same even more? Square?

That would fricking cool! All MS has to do is not let Take 2 make all those trash games they did for PSX and they should be a VERY promising developer!

Sony has bought -  Verant, Psygnosis, Naughty Dog

MS has bought - Bungie, and most likely Take 2.

Everquest is MUCH more popular than GTA, sounds like MS isn\'t the only bad guy here.

Because he\'s rich and I\'m not.  Duh. ;)

This news is sad for PS2 fans, but it\'s something that\'s bound to happen when a new console maker enters the industry.  Look on the bright side, at least they weren\'t able to buy out Sega like they were trying to. :)

If you\'re going to put down Naugthy Dog, then might aswell put down Munch Inha..... (can\'t recall the developers full name). Naughty Dog was Sony exclusive anyway - they were the ones that approached Sony to buy them. Psygnosis was very pro Sony too, unlike Bungie that was working on a PS2 version of Halo that then got canned because of Microsoft. Yeah and unlike Take 2 that is also developing games for PS2 if they won\'t be aquired by Microsoft. Not quite fair and I am still pissed at Microsoft for doing so. Good tactical move, I\'ll give them that much for it. See the difference?

While Sony bought developers that were pro Sony anyway (can\'t remember ND or Psygnosis having any plans to develop for Xbox), Microsoft is buying out developers that are actually supporting PS2 and perhaps others (Take 2: Grand Theft Auto Series, Bungie: Halo for PS2).

There is no natural law that I know of that states that the business world has to play nice.

If MS is on the top of the console market, it is because there are consumers who feel it is worthy of their hard earned dollars. If they make crap, I don\'t care who they gobble up, they will not last.

The thing is, a development house is nothing but a name. Microsoft could buy Konami, that doesn\'t mean they own Kojima. Whereas in the PC world they were buying companies that had rights to different software to use in their OS.

The console industry is an odd one because the playing field gets leveled every 5 years or so. Microsoft could buy Konami, Capcom, Sega, and EA this generation and those guys could leave and form new companies to develop for other consoles. It happened with Rare, it happened with Square and it will happen again.

Its not a game its business.
