Well, I thought it was a good movie.. The story wasn\'t worthless, it was good. I don\'t really pay attention to pacing or whatever. I\'m not sitting there enjoying the action and then thinking out oooops, I think they paced this wrong. Come on. Also, Pearl Harbor is a much better movie than AT LEAST 5 of the poll choices IMO.
1. Quick test: How much do you actually remember about the story? Think carefully, and be truthful with yourself. I\'m thinking back on it, and my memory is pretty vague. That is usually an indicator of a boring, meaningless story. Now, provided you do remember anything, did you really care about this story? As I recall it had something to do with whether Kate Beckinsale would end up with Josh Hartnett or Ben Affleck. Did you give a damn? I didn\'t.
2. When I use the phrase "pacing was excruciating" I\'m referring to all the flabby scenes of prewar military life in Honolulu. All the times I glanced at my watch and wondered what I would have on my pizza later in the day. If my mind wanders while I\'m watching a movie, I KNOW that there\'s something wrong with the pace of the story. In this case, the story was so inane and meaningless that the only way it could have been paced appropriately would have been to compress it down to 6 minutes of screen time. I think they could have easily cut 40-50 minutes from this film, left in a few truncated exchanges to support the idiotic love story, and then gotten right to the battle scenes with less windup. That\'s what everyone seemed most interested in anyway.
3. The fact that Pearl Harbor is better than five of the movies listed in this poll is NO GREAT ACHIEVEMENT. (see my comments higher in this thread).
