I do have a few questions for you guys in this thread though.
1)When playing defence what guys do you choose to control both before and or after a throw has been made?
2)Do you use alot of special moves when running like spins or juking or do you just use the D-pad?
3)I have yet to even play 2002 because a couple people said that it was pretty much the same as 2001.... Is it really alot better than 2001 or just a bit better?
4)Finally what kind of defence do you set up? For plays I mean give some scenarios and why you use them.

Thanks for the help, hope to play some of ya online in the future and show me yer chit.

I would reply, but my new found friends have pretty much got this covered. I will say this however, GO GET 2002!!!!!!! Cause it rules dude, the cenima replay is SOOOOO TIGHT when you stick somebody, namely the QB....

EDIT: I\'m bored!

1. I use the Bucs so I use Sapp or Brooks before the snap, and sometimes Lynch if I know they are running to the strong side.
2. I use Special moves when it\'s warrented, I always use juke though. It\'s pressure sensitive so once you get the hang of it I use it to make cuts.
3. IMO it\'s 10 times better, alot more small things added, like coaches, better facial features. You can tell when the QB is pissed or when he\'s just made a big play cause he\'ll smile and laugh.
4. I play alot of man and double teams out of 4-3 and nickel. It really just depends on the situation. I pay alot of attention to what formation they are playing out of and call plays accordingly.

I play on All-Pro. I\'m a foriegner so I\'m still picking everything up about American Football.
My first season I was 4 - 11 (Or something like that. I cant remember exactly)
I picked up a couple of good rookies in the Off-Season and am
3 - 2 in my second season.

Need some advice. Whats the best formations to defend against running plays, and best for passing plays?

And in the stats, whats a pancake and a sack? I know a sack is when you tackle the QB behind the line of scrimmage, but whats a sack for an Offensive Line player?

Once I start kicking arse on I\'m going to change the difficculty to All-Madden because I usually play games on the hardest level
A schizophrenic patient will not allow anyone to touch them; not because they would do them some harm, but because they might electrocute them.

As for advice on running play defense, thats tricky. It really depends on who you use as your team. I defend the run several different ways. I normally play out 0f 4-3 and man my LB\'s. If you use a team with fast LB\'s then blitzthem on the outside, normally that will shut down the sweeps. My best advice is expierament with several plays until you find a few that you know will work.

A sack is a sack, you get the QB it\'s a sack.No matter what positon player gets the QB.

A pancake is when your OL(offensive lineman) pushes his defender on his backside. Meaning he lays him out basicly, giving your RB a hole big enough to drive a truck thru.

Running Plays= NO BLITZING. You jack up the blitz, their RB is gone. Use Dime and 4-3 formations, my fav is Dime-Double Wide.

Passing Plays= 3-4 if you wanna put pressure on the QB, and Nickle if you just want to prevent a pass.

I agree on the pass, but I do blitz through 3-4 against the run. Cause sometimes the linebackers can clog up the holes and you can end up stopping em for a loss, but that\'s just me

Yeah, you can Blitz and but it\'s a gamble.

If you win= GREAT DEFENSIVE PLAY

If you lose= GREAT OFFENSIVE PLAY

But an aggresive defense is a good one.

One crazy ass thing I never do is blitz a DB. Like that one play in 3-4 called "CB Blitz" (i think). I tried that once and the safety that was supposed to pick up the receiver got burned bad.

Boy the only way I\'d do a CB Blitz is if I know my LB\'s and Safties are top notch.

I also do it against people I play that suck, i.e. My dad.

LOL, yeah, in that case it\'s sort of a win win situation. Cause if he scores off of it, well, you can just come right back and get a quick TD

And the fact that my dad never scrambles! He just keeps his QB like a statue, makes for good replays though.

Never Scrambles!!! LOL. Man I didn\'t think I would get this into Madden though. I\'ve never had such a long conversation about Madden (or games for that matter). Just goes to show you how good a game it is.

I agree... I have a very aggresive defense. I tend to blitz about 40% of the time. I have success almost every single time. Its all about picking the right blitz for what you think the offence is going to do. I seem to have everything reversed from you guys\' type of football game... You say you usualy use dime formations for a run... I tend to use dime formations for the pass plays.
But hey, thats what works for me... I havent had any problems. Although I change it up constantly during a game.. I dont use one play more then four-five times a game. I tend to use every single play through out the whole game.

As far as blitzing your DB\'s, I have used it a couple times. Once it actually worked... but only because the FB was running that way and it brought up a good loss. Ive also brought in safety blitzes, which then.. turned out to be a disaster. They gained 50+ yards. I love the difference in plays in the game and how each one works for different offenses. Its like a chess game in a way. Its takes stragedy and skill.

O yeah, I forgot about Safety Blitzes. Yeah, it\'s basically putting all your coverage on the DB\'s backs. It really hurts when they burn you huh?
