~Madden Test 1~
« on: December 11, 2001, 06:36:29 PM »
I\'m gonna do these things called, "Madden Tests" and I\'ll continue to do them based on their popularity. Here are the rules:

1. Must own Madden 2002
2. Must not lie, or it won\'t be fun.
3. Once game starts, don\'t reset it, restart it, or anything just cuz\' your "doing" bad.
4. YOU MAY ONLY USE A TEAM\'S DEFAULT ROSTER (No created players, edited players, etc.)
5. MUST PLAY ON PRO
***Honesty in the best policy***

Here\'s your set-up:

Quarters: 6 minutes
Fatigue: Off

YOU WILL PLAY THE

GREEN BAY PACKERS @ GREEN BAY

WEATHER SETTINGS: TEMPERATURE AT LOWEST
                               :  WIND AT HIGHEST
                               : PRECIPITATION AT HIGHEST
                               : DAY TIME

Good Luck.

Post all players stats, game stats, everything when your done.

--------------------------------------------

GRADE: B+

Notes: Wow, I jumped on those cheese heads early in the game. Packers first play ended up with a fumble which was recovered by me and placed me on their 20 immediately. From there I kept moving the ball on Garrison Hearst\'s feet and he dominated the entire first half. I gave up the passing game early in the third quarter because the wind was just kicking too hard and my throws didn\'t reach their targets. However Garcia had a good run game because the Packers enjoy to show blitz and I took advantage and Garcia picked up critical first downs. Kicking was virtually impossible from 30+ yards out into the wind, yet I tried twice and payed for it. Another problem was I couldn\'t convert on third downs because the Packer\'s Nickle defense is just too tough to throw on. But Garrison Hearst really dominated the game while picking up the Player Of the Game award. The game was overall pretty easy, thanks to good takeaways by my special teams and defense. I\'m really good at blocking punts because of a special formation that I use. But once Jeff Ulbrich blocked that punt he just scooped it up and there was nothing but green in front of him. But I give myself a B+ because I didn\'t do to well in my passing game and my lack of converting on third down. But a good job keeping pressure on Brett Favre, and completely shutting down the Packers run game.

I\'m gonna do these Tests every Friday.

Since Friday\'s are when I have the most free-time.

And an entire week gives everyone a chance to get it done.

Vapor

how do you block punts?!?!?
I have never even been close to a blocked punt.  How do you do it?

The closest I have ever gone to bloking a field goal was when I was controlling charly Woodson at the side in field goal block formation.  I got sssoooooooooo close!  The ball actually took a deflection of his head and went through the uprights.

Sweet Tooth

How did you get so many interceptions?!?!?!
Im terrible at defence and want to know what formation is best for getting interceptions and how to execute them.

What do you guys feel aboout madden 2002?
I love how players progress there abillities after good seasons.
Im currently working on Michael Vick and after MVP after MVP his rating is now OVERALL = 96 SPEED = 95
what?!? Were you expecting a signature?

Immediately after the pass is thrown I just switch to the nearest DB (press x) and step in front of the pass and press square (with no directional button, or else he\'ll dive) and make sure you hold square or else it\'ll probably just bounce off your player. This isn\'t even the best game I\'ve had. My best game was during franchise when I faced the Eagles and I picked off McNabb 7 times. Usually I run out of 3-4 defense, but that defense usually only works if you got fast Linebackers. With that defense there are a lot of blitzes and it\'s easy to totally dominate the backfield if your Linebackers are fast enough to get there.

I can also answer Vapor\'s question. This is my way to block punts and field goals.

For punts:

Make sure you got your fastest defensive player (hell even offensive player if you want) on the far left side of the formation. Try outspeeding the guy setup to block you and get to the punter. If not trick him. Start moving inside then bust out to the outside, vice versa. Another thing I haven\'t tried but just thought of, was to move your line all the way to the left (L1) and then maybe someone will pick up that guy giving you a clear path to the punter.

For Field Goals:

The only way it works for me is to take my center (don\'t know the defensive name  for the position) and move him a bit to the right. Then I take control of the linebacker behind him and have him go one on one with the other team\'s center and then the defensive lineman you moved to the right will have an open lane. It works sometimes and sometimes it doesn\'t.

I haven\'t got around to paying the game yet. I\'ll share how I block FG\'s and punts though.

For punts(this works 90% of the time on any level except All-Madden for me)

Take control of the MLB which is the farthest guy on the right(or left looking at the screen from offense) move him out 4 times meaning tap the controller 4 times to the left. If your guy is even somewhat fast he can get there almost everytime. My MLB on defense is Nate Webster(on special teams) and he is hardly fast yet I had 22 blocks with him once during a season on All-Pro.

For FG\'s(this only works sometimes)but I currently have 3 blocks in All-Madden mode using this technique.

I just use the MLB, Jamie Duncan in my case. I use the Analog stick to side step him to the right right behind the the first guy to the left of the Noseguard(man in front of center) when the ball is snaped you\'ll notice he kinda shifts back right, right before you take contriol of him. Then I just come right down the middle and time my jump. As I said this only works sometimes because the hole is not always open.

YOWZA\'S! THAT\'S GOOD!

And remember this is Test 1, it\'s supposed to be easy. And also remember, I used the Niners, and they aren\'t as good as the Giants in 2002. But an A+ is the grade you should get.

2 more days, till\' next test.

Even if we are the only two that will do them :) .

Blocking punts: Get a guy on the ends. Move him 2 steps left of their last blocker on the end. Anticipate the snap count, sprint straight at the kicker and press triangle to jump. It takes practice but you can get good at it.

Blocking kicks are a whole different story though.

Yeah, best way to compare skillz is by actually playing them.

Until then, this is the best way I can think of.
