It seems there is a large posse of PS2 fans out there that are intent to believe that Sony is worth about the same as Microsoft. Where the hell did they get that? I decided to do a little bit of investigating and found out exactly how much Microsoft and Sony are worth. This is as of December 11,2001.
Sony= $43,147,050,000
Microsoft= $362,568,959,280


Microsoft is as of today $319,421,909,280 dollars richer, roughly worth about 8.5 times more than Sony.

Now notice that Sony does lead in Revenues and Assets each by a significant margin, and SOny employees quite a bit more people then MS

MS leads in profits which of course can be partially attributed to MS\'s manopoly of software to a point and the fact that the bill on box hasn\'t come due quite yet. On the other hand Sony has built 2 full modernized semi-conductor plants in Japan to support the PS2 at a cost in the 10\'s of Billions that are set up to produce tons of future semi conductors for Sony

Sony also has taken a bit of a beating on the tech side of things like all tech stocks have but by far SOny is worth quite a bit more then MS in the form of Assets and Revenues.

That\'s why you always look for a source on a fan-made website.  Anyone can make up numbers, but fortune500 is what the real stuff is about.  Stockholders, investors, all these people need to know where the company is going and thus all of their profits and losses are made public by the day.  Fortune500 keeps track of all of that, especially since Sony and MS both have big stock values.  X-boxaddict... well... How many articles from them would you really trust for stock advice?  Just food for thought.

Sony is a HUUUGE conglomerate. I think the Xbox fanboys just picked one of Sony\'s many company and used that number as comparison. If you wanna take compare, ya gotta take the whole thing. Sony is the bigger of the two and has deeper pockets.

Remember 2 weeks ago in this thread when I said, "Actually, Sony has more money that Microsoft does (last time I checked at least).
