Having PS2 game download problems, need HELP FROM ANYONE!!!!!!!
« on: December 18, 2001, 04:15:44 PM »
When I first bought my PS2, every game downloaded without a problem.  But I just noticed about 3 months ago, it won\'t load certain games.  Example, when I bought the PS2, I bought NHL 2001 with it, the game worked for a while.  But now the game won\'t load up and my PS2 makes weird sounds when I put the game in.  I wasn\'t worried with this before because I thought the disk of NHL 2001 was just scratched and wouldn\'t load.  But I finally freaked out when I bought Top Gun-Combat Zones about 2 days ago, and noticed it wouldn\'t load up!  I returned the disk to the place I bought it and exchanged it for a brand new one, but when I put the game into my PS2.  It wouldn\'t load up and made the weird noises I was talking about.  I got to the Broswer on the PS2 main menu, it keeps on giving me "read disk error".  I don\'t understand what is this problem, if anyone can please help me and give me some suggestion of fixing the problem.  If it helps, I noticed that the PS2 wouldn\'t load certain games with blue color disks.  The only problem is, Midnight Club has blue color backside and it loads up fine in the system.  But like I said before, NHL2001 which has a blue backside doesn\'t load, and so does Top Gun-Combat Zone.  Can anyone please help me???

I talked to one of my friends who owns a PS2, he had similar problems.  He said that one of my chips or something is burnt, and that I need to buy a new one off an internet site.  He said that early PS2 consules had a problem with one of their chips, and that to fix it, all I need to do is buy an upgraded chip from a certain company.  Anyone think this is my problem?  If so, can anyone give me that internet site which I can buy the chip?

I dunno what your freind is talking about. Ive heard of things like this coming up if you bought an earlier Ps2. But I have an early Ps2 and I havent really had any problems cept for some skipping of dvds and some disk read errors. Go buy a cd/dvd cleaner. That should do the trick.
