Framerate problems with J+D
« on: December 18, 2001, 06:37:32 PM »
anyone else having considerable frame rate fluctuations in J+D or is it my copy

Quite a few times when spinning the camera I get lots of stutters

Since I haven\'t heard anyone complain yet I\'m wondering if its a bad disk or not

I haven\'t noticed any considerable frame rate fluctuations, and I have pretty much completed the game. I noticed a hint of slowdown, but only on rare occaisions. Suppose it could be your copy.

When I gave my impressions of the game in another thread, I mentioned some framerate problems.  It usually happens when the camera goes from having a small amount of things on the screen then moving to a place where there is tons of things on the screen, i.e. like right when you exit the first room and quickly look over across the whole island.  The stuttering only lasts for about a second though, then it goes back to a smooth 60 fps.

I\'ve only experienced some slowdown in the Boggy Swamp. It only occured while shooting yellow bullets close to a wall. This only happened about 2 times (lasted for less than a second) in the whole game. I never had any problems while changing the camera angle.

Since you guys are probably playing on 60 Hz (NTSC), I am guessing that it might have a tad more slowdown then on 50 Hz.

50 Hz has slightly slower framerate, but higher resolution.

I\'m about 75% done on 60hz and not had any slowdown at all.

Hmmmm....   Soundz like ya need ta replace the disc pronto.  I just purchased Jak & Dax this evening.  I\'ll reply to this, but it will probably be tomorrow night before I get a chance to check out the framerate.

mmh.. that\'s not good at all. Do you have this problems with other games too? Are there any scratches on the disc?

If this is the only game you have had this problem so far, I\'d get it returned as soon as possible...

I just played this at work last night. It seems really good. I\'m definitley going to be picking this up shortly after christmas.
I just hope the frame-rate problems arent as bad as ddaryl is saying.

If it is thats not good because he agreed with me that the slowdown on SSX wasnt that bad. So if he has problems with it on J + D then thats not a good sign for me

Although it\'s one of my favorite games of all time, 007 had some framerate problems as well. Just play with grenade launchers and the g- a- m- e -w-w-i-l-l-l s-s-s-l-l-o-o-o-w-w-w-w d-ow-n-n-n

Like how threads slowdown cuz\' of Soulgrind\'s avatar ;)

See, slowdown = Too much stuff going on at one time.

I can see why J/D slowdown.

although your theory is very true  there is the acceptable and unacceptable

In my case the slowdown is much more then I would like., and obvioulsy its not effecting most others in the same way its effecting me I have to believe my copy of J+D is slightly defective
