30001 is a US release machine..

But they have 4 versions of the 30001.. (Forgot how to see which version you got. Check some sites)

The latest model out in Europe is a SCPH-30005.. (I got SCPH-30004 Version 4)

There is a date code on the back. When I bougt mine at launch it had Date Code: A

But when I returned that one and got a new one a few weeks ago it had Date Code: C

So obviously C is newer than A. Anyways, just thought I\'d share this info.

Where\'d you return it at?  Did you have a warranty or did you just take it back to a store that doesn\'t require receipts?

Newest Aussie one is 30002R.

R means it has DVD drivers version 2.3
