AWSOME PS2 device..Look!!!
« on: December 21, 2001, 08:54:04 AM »
The Memory Card Station (PS2 Card Reader) hooks up at your PCs printer port
and lets you read and write to common Playstation 2 or PS One memory cards.
The included Windows Software (Win 95, Win 98, Win 2000 and Win XP) supports
different file types and enables to exchange gamesaves or whole memory cards
with people through the Internet. Furthermore manipulation of gamesaves can
be done with a standard Hex editor using your PC
(still remember the naked Kasume in Dead or Alive?).

--Read and write to Playstation 2 memory cards

--Read and write to Playstation / PS One memory cards

--Supports PSU, PS1, PSD, M8, M1, PSS files

--Save single game saves or the whole memory card

--Use your PCs Hex Editor to manipulate game saves and activate cheats

--Download gamesaves from the Internet

--Send gamesaves to your friends by email

--Repair and format PS2 Memory Cards using the format function

yeah, very easy for a virus to be submitted into the memory file since they are not based on blocks anymore

It sux that we even have to worry about that.

Maybe I should start a company :" nookie for nerds"

I will seek out virus programmers and get them laid. Then they won\'t be so angry at the world.      ;)

Relax Cygnus...
All I\'m trying to say is that more complexity/possiblities
always comes along with more possible problems, i.e. virus
and such in this case. Of course everybody is runnin their
anti virus program on their pc, but you\'re constantly busy
updating and being on the lookout for new viruses.
I would just reject the idea of having to worry about such
things when it comes to my PS2. A videogames console
should only bring joy, not paranoid worrying.
There\'s always ppl on earth who find some way, via gadgets
like this, to practice out their twisted intentions.

a save file isn\'t an executable so how can it be infected? there\'s no hard drive on the ps2 either so once you turn it off, everything is back to normal

1) Viruses can infect non-exe files, like vbs, doc and image-formats.

2) PS2 hasn\'t got HDD but has bios and save file data...

reason u got viruses for PC is that millions of progamers know archetecture of PC and PC is spread like crazy. why would a person wana wright a virus to a PS2? and if he did how will it spread? PS2 is still not really on the net most of the time.
