XBOX is screwed in Australia - Kmart are not going to stock it.

Yep, thats right. Kmart, Australia\'s largest department store, and largest toy stockist (and official SONY PS2 stockist) will not be stocking the XBOX as of its release in March in Australia.

This has not been officially confirmed, but I can tell you now that I have sources within the store saying that there is an agreement with SONY to stock the XBOX.

Looks like another Dreamcast scenario (Kmart didn\'t support DC and it died within 8 months of release).

well, ive always said XBOX would fail here...but...just because K-Mart doesnt stock it doesnt mean much...it\'ll fail for other reasons (despite their being adds every commercial break on television)

its odd...with all the commercials for XBOX ive seen, they havent once told anyone what the XBOX is...i have friends actually ask me what the XBOX is and what it does...interesting (i love you)

The reason I say that its screwed because Kmart isnt stocking it is simply because Kmart sells the most videogame stock of any store in Australia. They have (most the times) the lowest prices, and have the buying power to get surplus stock.

If Kmart doesnt sell it, then other retailers will probably follow (like Myer and David Jones as with DC).

You can\'t avoid other stores selling XBOX\'s. The XBOX
is a good machine. Outcome : Buyers will notice and

No, not really. I mean, Kmart invested alot into becoming the Official Playstation Headquaters, and I don\'t think they are going to risk that for Microsoft.

Kmart is a massive retail chain in Australia, and they have some mega deals with Sony Computer Entertainment Australia. I think they know what their doing.

Isn\'t Kmart mean to be like redneck central for the most part?

I can\'t see it being the end of the X-Box in Australia but a step towards helping that. Nothing too significant though.

It shows how much Kmart thinks of Sony\'s “Competition”, Kmart knows who butters its bread.

Knotter8 I\'m inclined to agree with you on this one, b/c if K-Mart won\'t sell Xboxes then someone else will. One person\'s short sightedness is always someone else\'s opportunity. If this is true, and Xbox makes a big splash in Austraila, K-Mart will be kicking itself in the a** for not coming aboard.

But what if it dies, like the DC did.

They would be left with alot of surplus stock... (Like EB)

K-Mart in the states is like for stereotyped for rednecks. People wouldn\'t be caught dead buying clothes there or something.

Here on Guam, K-Mart is like in Australia.. People appreciate it and don\'t tease it....

Kmart in Australia is different. It is owned by a different company, different logo, and much better image.
