Ring type scratches???
« on: December 24, 2001, 11:39:02 AM »
Ive gotten one on my madden game..I think its dues to playing the ps2 horizantaly. It never had the scratch when I had it vertical. I just went from vertical to horizantal 2weeks ago.

Any thoughts or similar experiances?

WHY did you go Vertical! The PS2 is known to have problems with it in the Vertical position and that was one of them. Mine is horizintal and I have never had a problem and it is a Launch PS2 also....no probs so far Knock on wood!

This tends to happen to a lot of people. Mainly because the Ps2 gets bumped, dropped, hit or kicked. Ive had my Ps2 vertical for some time now and there is not any circlular scratches on my games at all.

Back to my post. If you move it, bump it, hit it, kick it, drop kick it, or pile drive it while the disc is in the drive. Its gonna scratch. ;)
Be careful.

I repeat, that never happens.

Never has been dropped, jarred, bumped, or moved while the power was on.

It only seems to be my madden 2k1 disc that it has happend to. I have 2 other friends that this same thing has happend to while the ps2 was horizantal.

I got one with my none working reconditioned PS2 Sony sent me. This is the reason I can\'t play my Christmas games, I don\'t want to get them scratched.

this happend to my old ps2, all my dvd games had scratches( very light) but it ate my gt3 up, really bad, at first i thought i had knocked something over in my room, but it was my cd getting scratched!!!!! i took gt3 back and got a new one, also i got a new ps2 as i didnt want it to happen to any of my other games. it would make a noise and i could only start the game up if i went to browser and then pic the cd.

if you ring  sony up they will replace it, but you may get a dodgy one ( like i did) but you will eventually get one that works, also if you tell them what happend to your game they give you a adress, you send the game there, they send you a new one back

I always wonder in what kinda environment ppl
have their PS2 after hearing so many stories of
knocked down, bumped and hit PS2\'s ...
Anyway, I have mine safely vertical ( without the
vertical stand ) and no problems.
