I ain\'t even gonna touch most of the subjects in this post. All I wanted to say that is that, IMO, the Phantasy Star series on the whole is better than the FF series. When you combine the storylines of all the games into the massive epic that PS is.. It really adds a depth to the series that FF can\'t touch. When you break it down game per game it gets debatable. PS1 was a masterpiece of 8bit technology and better in almost every concievable way than any 8bit FF games. PSII is great as well, but I was kind of put off by the horrible translation job and lack of substance in some areas. (I.E. The accident between the Space Station and Palma for example)
PSIII was like the FF8 of the PS series. It was a good RPG as a standalone, but it didn\'t fit in well with past PS games. If you weren\'t really paying attention to the storyline or didn\'t have a guide with you it becomes difficult to make some of the necessary storyline connections with past PS games. PSIV is the crown jewel of the series and is almost like the FF6~7 of the PS world. Lots of mini quests, hidden items, and gorgeous cutscenes.. all tied together with unforgettable characters and an awesome storyline. Phantasy Star Online is also a great game (Nolers and Hackers aside) that is best played online with people who actually like Role Playing. Unlike what most review sites say, PSO actually fits well into the PS storyline. It\'s just that PSO is a contiuation of the story from the perspective of one of PSIII\'s endings. (Think of Ragol as Earth, and the ruins being the Alyssa III)
As for all of their other games, I guess it really depends on what kind of gamer your are. If you like fast paced Arcade action and fun but off the wall kinda games.. then yes Sega is the best. I personally think Sega is the best for a few reasons.
1. They aren\'t vicious backstabbers and shyt talkers like Nintnedo is.
2. They like to branch out, making new games and new genres with each successive console. Although they haven\'t yet found that balance between the fresh/new and playin the franchise card.
3. They were close buisness partners of my personal favorite game company, Sierra. Even beyond "just buisness", they went so far as to offer all the ex-employees at Oakhurst temporary jobs at Sega until they could get back on their feet after "Chainsaw Monday". I know of no other game companies who are compassionate enough to do something like that.
4. Sega has always fought censorship and gov\'t intervention in the games industry. While other companies would fold and obey, Sega has always been right there defending gamers rights from back in the days of Night Trap & Doom to more recent hearing like those that followed the Columbine massacre. Todays ESRB ratings are a direct result of Sega\'s fight for ratings and education over Censorship.
That\'s all I have to say about that......
