My Sony Monitor & My PS2???
« on: January 10, 2002, 10:34:09 AM »
I have a Sony Trinitron Multiscan 500PS and in the back of my monitor there is an input for  "R," "G," "B," "HD," & "VD"

It is for BNC input. Would connecting my PS2 to this monitor be amazing enough to go out & buy whatever I need to do it with? or will it just be the same as it is on my TV???

It is a 21 inch monitor with 19.8 inch viewing size.

Thanks for your input.

21 inch isn\'t that small for a monitor.

I have it connected to my big screen TV now, but I was just wondering if it makes that big of a difference.

(Been seeing alot of post from people trying to do this.)

No everyone has the money for an HDTV. Yet, everyone who owns a computer has a moniter which is far superior to Televisions.

The advantage:

1. No Blurryness
2. No ColorFading
3. No Color Bleeding
4. Increased Detail
5. Sitting at a desk means it\'s easier to type when FFOnline comes out.

The Disadvantage:

1. You have to sit at your desk.
2. Sound isn\'t as good with PC speakers (Unless you have a kik ass PC sound system)
3. More clutter to clean up around
4. More detail means flaws and jaggies more apperant
5. Sore eyes from staring at gorgeous, crisp, jawdropping graphics.

So it\'s up to you which method is better. Personally I switch back and forth depeding on how I\'m feeling, but usually I\'ll use the PC moniter. It\'s almost painful to play games on a normal TV anymore, but the couch sure is a nice anesthetic.

BNC input, and VGA input...I wonder which one is better?  Anyway, I have somewhat overprice 17" Sony Trinitron Flatscreen monitor with 16" viewable diagonal.  It have a sync on green signal and I heard ps2 output won\'t accept VGA unless it have a certain sync on green and my my monitor does.  But old VGA monitor probably doesn\'t have Sync on green.  So, if you guys want true VGA on your monitor, makes sure your monitor have a pin from the HD15 connector with a pin that sync on green.

Juslight, Your monitor have a different type of input.  It the BNC type.  I have no clue if there any adapter that accept BNC...sorry.  Me, I am poor and I have no money.  I am dying to hook up my ps2 to my pc monitor because of the quality it provides, which is much better than a TV.  Only downside is that the screen is small compares to my TV.  But if I have a lot of money, I may buy HDTV.  Which gives high resolution like pc monitor but it also offers widescreen.  Guess I am going to wait till HDTV price drop and more userbase and hopefully they have a digital video input jack by then which is 2006.

I Have Seen 36" Digital Televisons For Around 1400... I Personally Think That Is Very Cheap.  Note These Aren\'t The Top Of The Line, But Nevertheless Cheap For A 36" Digital Television.

It is widescreen?  That\'s one of the features I look for in HDTV.

Back to the original question.  THey are 2 totally different things.  IT won\'t work.  I have the 5 inputs on my projection unit and I tried to hook up my component input from my DVD player and it didn\'t work.  I knew it wouldn\'t but I wanted to see what I would get.  It was just all out of whack.

On another note.  You can get adapters for BNC probably at radio shack.
