Jap PS2 for 150quid? (UK) Pls help me decide!!

Do you think 150 quid is a good price or should I ask for a price reduction? How much would you pay for ?? (max)

The thing that worries me is that he wants to buy a UK ps2... Why would he wanna do that if the JAP PS2 is so good??

I have a dreamcast and the difference is obvious between 50/60, but doesn\'t the PAL PS2 support 60Hz as well? whats this crap he\'s talking about?

Second: A few things to the Topic...
NO, you can´t see any diff between GT3 JAP (NTSC) and GT3 UK (PAL) !!! Both Games are equal in speed...
There are a few Games (such as TTT) where you may notice a slight speed diff (or think it is), but that´s not worth buying a JAP Console.
YES, the PAL PS2 is able of 60Hz !!! There are more and more Games with an 50/60 Hz option.
About the "PAL Bares": They are not huge and just in some Games... you don´t notice them on a "Big Screen" ! ...and there aren´t much games with this problem. Also PAL has a higher resolution than NTSC !
Last: As mm told you, there must be a reason why he´s selling it ! BTW: A ch... *nasty word* PAL Console can do the same stuff as a JAP one !!!

dont get it since there are no chips that allow you to playPAL/Us games on a japanese machine (comeing from someone who owns one)

The speed difference is VERY noticable and the PAL 50hz hinders gameplay in TTT and SSX pretty badly. NTSC is waaay faster.

I have both the japanese and PAL console ,things I noticed

unit differences

Pal freezes more often while it has a better fan and more vents
Pal power cable suck major ass!    its very loose and goes out quickly
There is a slight lag between turning on the pal untit and the light going red
My jap ps2 doesn\'t have a harddrive bay
Pal ps2 is slightly heavier

speed issues/borders

Pal DMC is much slower than the NTSC jap demo
SSX Pal version is slower and granier
TTT\'s combos have to timed slightly different to match the Pal speed.
RRV has huge borders compared to its NTC counterpart

Pros of owning a Jap unit

-Get all the good japanese games first
-No borders, no slowdown and all in 60hz
-Graphics seem slightly \'cleaner\' in some games
-less to no freezing and overeheating/disk problems

Cons of owning a Jap unit

-Language, but it is \'do-able\' take it from me
-You will be missing out on some westren games
-Expensive games!!
- No good chip out to play domestic games

conclusion

If you can get it cheap and you are willing to take a BIG risk I say go get it, from personal view I think I do reccomend you it, but I would wait for a good chip first
