Baldurs Gate is BIG BIG FUN!!!!!!
« on: January 16, 2002, 12:38:45 PM »
I have been looking for a good 2 player co-op (non split screen)
for a while now. And let me tell you this is a great game!
It\'s fun, you have to use stratagy and team work. I like playing games with my son and this is a good game to play together (with anyone). I think they should make more games like this.
All of us are not loner nerds who just play games by themselves.
And so far the only options we have are racing and sport games.
Sport games are cool, but we need something different.
You really should go out and get this game (oh it\'s ALSO fun in one player mode) It\'s like $39.95 at Best Buy now. Thats a great deal for such a fun game. The graphics are good, the gameplay is tight and there is plenty to do as far as powering up and finding/buying better weapons, armor, spells and stuff.
Cool game.

r-e-p-e-t-i-t-i-v-e beyond tolerance when you get towards the middle to end of the game

The 1st act was fantastic, but mid way thru the 2nd you will be awaiting some new twist that will never come and this continues into the 3rd act all the way to the final boss which is equally dissapointing

I hate to be Mr. negative, but I expect epic adventures with lots of twists turns and creative challenges. Co-Op is a fantastic addition but it doesn\'t make the game much better.

I guess I\'ve come to realize that I need complexity in gameplay to feel fulfilled. My 1st time thru BG: DA had we wishing it would end soon after I started act III.

Well it\'s better than Guantlet Legends, but that\'s not saying much...

Since you were looking for a great co-op game it is perfect, but single player does get repetitive at times, I didn\'t think it was as bad as Ddaryl says, but it is repetitive

The water looks like oil.

And it "follows" the character strangely. But it is very nice looking.

Dozens of sweaty ogres and adventurers (not forgetting those busty female adventurers with perfect, oiled, shiny skin) trawl through the pools, so no wonder the water looks a bit weird. Ick.

I played the demo and I must admit it was very pretty. But it seemed a bit repetitive even after 10 minutes of play... Maybe it\'d be better in co-op, but unfortunately I don\'t have anyone to play it with, bah.

As I said before in another thread BG:DA has its moments.  I mean starting out and seeing the chick in the inn with the nice jugs started it all off right, but like Ddaryl said after the first act, the turns in the plot etc are non existant.  *SPOILER* I knew the friggin lizard was evil first time I saw him *SPOILER*.  The game was very redundant from about 30 mins into the 2nd act and I too was hoping the damn thing would end.  That being said, I\'d still rent another edition of BG simply because I like RPG\'s.  Co-op wasn\'t really an option for me.  I\'m 28, when me and friends get together we don\'t play games.  We usually go to bars, get drunks, and call up all our ex-wives =0

yeah, i can agree it looks pretty thick, but i think its very well done the way it moves back and forth, beginning of good things to come for PS2 graphics...and i know there are great things out now, but i just mean that the level of games has drastically stepped up lately, and i think itll only keep getting better.
