I\'ve yet to hav heard anything bad about this movie.  Only thing is people say that it\'s not really a movie, it\'s more an experience.  It just drops you into hell.

well i finally saw this movie and it left me speechless it is one of the best movies ive ever seen people are right its almost not a movie its a half hour of character development then 2 straight hours of constant gunfireand stuff blowing barely 10 seconds go by in this movie without someone getting shot imagine the opening scene in saving private ryan being 2 hours long thats this movie
movie or not i still loved it except for ewan mcgregors bad american accentand a really fat tom sizemore who is in pretty much in every single war movie made in the past 5 years but his character is pretty cool but you would have to see the movie to know what i mean
it really hard to belive this really happend though what less than a hundred delta foce and rangers had to go up against i guesstimated that you see at least 300 people die on screen its pretty amazing this movie though is exactly what americans need right now and it make you proud to be one after the movies over

Hmm... have you read the book Jar O\' Pickles? Because to me it seemed like they fought a meaningless war with lots of casulties on both sides. Of course the Americans were superior, but a lot of them still died. It was very chaotic and no-one really seemed to know what they did, or how to get out of the mess. To me it was very tragic.

I guess i\'m one of the few who thought it wasn\'t all it was cracked up to be.

My vote still goes to Saving Private Ryan as best war movie.

I mean, Black Hawk Down was a better than average film but IMO didn\'t live up to its own hype.

someone said early it was a lot like rushing Omaha beach from SPR (first scene).

Black Hawk Down is quite violent and has its bloody parts but so far i\'m yet to see the level of violence that was in that first scene from saving private ryan displayed in a movie since. SPR was a lot more graphic IMO.

anyways, long story short I HIGHLY recommend it but as I said it just didn\'t live up to the hype for me.
