Copying a CD on a single drive

I\'m getting my new laptop soon.  It has a DVD/CD-RW drive.  I need to know what software will enable me to load the CD data onto the HD and then burn it to a CD-R.  I\'ve tried Nero on my PC using only 1 drive and got an error.  Any other good programs?

try cdrwin or ezcd creator, or mediaplayer will do it if yer running XP
